I'm going to say this now even though its a while away but there are several rooms for the EDUC307 exam so make sure you show up to the right room. Don't just assume you are in the same room as your friends. #warning#examinfo
@BouletAnnette Perhaps like the health food movement we are seeing. For many years, McDonalds was the place to go. Now, however, people demand healthier options and McDonalds must supply nutritional information. Suddenly, we see better, healthier options offered, such as Greek salads.
In regards to the Disney monopoly, I believe with great power comes great responsibility. I also believe that with the current movement towards equality and multi-culturalism, if Disney doesn’t embrace their responsibility they will ultimately lose power. #educ307#lesson11
@BouletAnnette I’m no sure, honestly, but I think it will be interesting to see. I think society is moving to a place where equality and accurate representation is being demanded. When you don’t meet the demands of your customers, you will ultimately lose them.
@JBraseliten I agree. Parents and schools have the opportunity to counteract the stereotypes presented in the films kids watch. But only when we know better can we do better.
@MichMoryoussef As a mom of two girls, I suddenly feel very conflicted. They love nothing more than their Disney princesses. But I don’t want them to subconsciously accept the stereotypes embedded in them. I’ll allow it. But be sure to show them realistic alternative views too.
I believe that the issues raised in the Disney documentary underscore the importance of a multicultural education as well as teaching students how to deconstruct the media they consume. #educ307#lesson11
@Jmizrahieduc307 I agree! I think we need to accept and acknowledge opposing viewpoints. It can be painful, but if we can start listening, deconstructing, and finding constructive ways of responding, we can start to come together a little better!
