Thrilled to announce Rebirth of the House Museum: Transforming the Woodrow Wilson Family Home into the First Museum of the Reconstruction Era is under contract with the @USCPress. Look for it around spring of 2025, and it's open access.

Kinda of a weird 9-11 anniversary for me this year. Half my life lived before it. Half after it. It still feels like the biggest historical event of my life as a US citizen. But there's aliens now, so we'll see . . .

I shed many tears while typing up these heart-wrenching text messages sent and received by UNC students yesterday. Our campus was on lockdown for more than three hours.
Beyond proud of this cover and the team behind it.
I make a new draft version every time I make major cuts or condense paragraphs. Not only do I go back for text, but it is a lifesaver if you need to fix or verify a footnote.
Genuinely, my main dissertation writing tip for PhD students (or anyone!) is to make an additional document for each of your chapters, and then paste everything you cut out into it. Cannot describe how many times I went back and retrieved things I thought Iβd never use.
