I'm a single issue voter, I want the warm lights back.
Streetlights are too blue. Headlights are too bright. It's a crime against nature and God.
We need to demand 2800K or below color balance for all outdoor lights. Some cities regulate 3000k max, that's still too damn blue.
@lichthauch being fully present means a thing entirely different for a man than for other animal... and includes many modalities unavailable to umwelts of the Others
@robkhenderson >latch-key kid
>walking home from school, cold rainy day
>decides to crawl through wet grass in vacant lot along the way with explicit idea of how nice it will feel to get back home and get warm in dry clothes
>forgot key
>has to wait hours in cold garage for parents to get home
*...there is no...'enough' to permit replacement of the real thing by such a simulacrum... no...way of pasting such simulacra together to recapture the real thing* (from Rosen's also worthy follow up - Essays on Life Itself)
If you want the most compelling logico-mathematical case for why this line of reasoning does not hold, check out Robert Rosen’s Life Itself.
Most pontificating on the matter don’t come close to the depths he plumbs with his argument for why the relational dynamics of organisms are more general than what we call “physics”, despite nearly all who continue the lineage of physics and biology taking the inverse for granted.
The difference between organismic behavior and the ultimate nature / capacities of mechanisms implementing analytic operations hinges upon the differences entailed by inverting this assumed precedence of generality, and meaningful comprehension requires a book length treatment that unravels many of our path-dependent assumptions.
That treatment is Life Itself, and its content has never been more relevant than it is today.
@herdyshepherd1 how small a virtual paddock is workable with those? (what is buffer zone size). What % of herd need to be wearing to be mostly effective?
@Evolving_Moloch Film actors job is to hit their mark and spit out their line (Bob Mitchum style)... one finds, sadly, perhaps not unsurprisingly (?), very few are actually competent at that.
