@StevenMcinerney I agree with the sentiment I just don't think that shoe fits at a club like city. Keep up the great content though and congrats on the ten years!
@djh84@northernassist@sentreal63 Im not knowledgable enough on how NR operate but if its a government issue they should absolutely be publicly voicing and acknowledging the issue rather than shrugging it off without any resolution. They'd gain a ton of respect by doing so.
@custard5876@AlwaysRails@sentreal63@trainfanmatt@northernassist Im not going to pretend I know the ins and out of how Northern is financed and how it operates but I do know the railway in the northwest has declined massively in the last ten year from my own experience.
@trainfanmatt@AlwaysRails@sentreal63@northernassist The reality is Northern absolutely need to be challenged on failures like this and if the solution isn't achievable then a 100% refund policy should be in place. That way northern suffer for its failings, not the general public.
@trainfanmatt@AlwaysRails@sentreal63@northernassist The obvious answer would be using the revenue from the day of which no service has been provided? Besides that there is surpluses. This is actually the point, a competent company would model the business to factor this in rather than asking Joe Bloggs of the public.
@djh84@northernassist@sentreal63 Integrated ticketing works with public transport companies already in place. Not a backup fleet of coaches/drivers. This happens regularly in Greater Manchester.
@AlwaysRails@sentreal63@trainfanmatt Northern is publicly owned and receives subsidy, but that doesn't mean it never records a surplus or operating profit. Those aren't mutually exclusive. Plenty of public transport systems receive subsidy while still generating operating surpluses.
@AlwaysRails@sentreal63@trainfanmatt@northernassist Some folk also dont consider the fact we have alternative public transport solutions not exclusive to Manchester? Why is there not a contract with every council/county the trains cover?
