I agree the war in Iran is a strategic disaster, but it is just one move on the board. And as a US soldier who deployed to Iraq back in 07, I would not want to see boots on ground in the traditional sense. But don’t you think getting a foothold in the south would look a lot different with the developments in drone tactics, compared to boots on ground in Iraq or Afghanistan over the last few decades. Resupply would need to be done with drones by air and sea, similar situation in the South Pacific. Might be the perfect place to test out many of these new technologies at scale. Not saying that’s the best plan, but under the current circumstances it would make sense. Even if the Iran war ends, others are primed, and these new tactics are spreading globally.

I think WW3 was the Cold War, and we are beginning the 4th global war now. World War 1 was originally called the Great War at first, until the next conflict caused the name change. Warfare and tactics have changed dramatically over the last few years and we are all trying to identify and define these changes, and I think a logical way to do this is to understand this is not the 3rd world war, that many have preconceived ideas about. It’s a new conflict, new tactics, and requires a new kind of understanding to wrap your head around it.
