After the lecture regarding advertisements and public relations, is it more beneficial for a company to pour a copious amount of money into a single ad during an event such as the super bowl, or to spread their ad funds to various different channels? #J201 #317
@EllaBuffalo Following up, I think ads are better utilized when you are trying to gain consumers, or viewers, and public relations are more set on improving reputation and allowing the company to become more trustworthy for a variety of consumers. #J201 #317
@EllaBuffalo I think that public relations are more important than ads, as the individuals who view your public relations are more likely to be recurrent consumers of your media. Therefore, if you follow XYZ on twitter, a new tweet about their product will be more beneficial than an ad. #J201
@hallebrownn If I were to advertise the Covid-19 vaccine, I would stick strongly to authority and liking, as those who are hesitant to take the vaccine will not be persuaded by facts, and would be more willing to listen to someone with similar political views as themselves. #J201 #317
@BensonAmbria I don't think they would've grown as rapidly as they did, which eliminated most of their competition, but I think they would still be successful. However, if they adopted a more cautious approach, then many of the problems they are facing today could of been avoided. #J201 #317
@SamiStidham I think that Facebooks rebranding is a good thing for the company, as it allow it to grow exponentially, however it is bad for the world, as Facebook can provide a bias form of news as there are many shareholders and owners who play roles in what is shown on the app. #J201 #317
After reading "Regulating Facebook will be one of the greatest challenges in human history", does the use of counter platforms that provide "trustworthy" news such as the Guardian truly make any difference on regulating facebook? #J201 #317
After reading "The media’s biggest bias in its centrism", by Zack Beauchamp, and learning about how the media is seen as biased on both sides, will it benefit political figures more if they appeal, or disassociate with the media? #J201 #317
@jennaaschwarz I agree with your statement regarding the third person effect being prominent when relating to polarization. Due to the negative implications of the term polarization, people can instantly mark that term, or even statement as negative, and avoid it. #UWJ201 #317
After reading about consolidation in the article "Here’s who owns everything in Big Media today", Is it more efficient for a smaller company to sell itself out to a larger company, such as Disney or Netflix? What are the pros and cons of selling out? #UWJ201 #317
@KenWang925 I think that is indeed true. The allure of physical violence and destruction will grab more clicks, therefore making more money, than an article focused on the actual cause of a protest. The articles are focused on making money, not so much talking about problems. #UWJ201 #317
Regarding the Vox article regarding conspiracy theories, it got me thinking about how certain people will jump onto a theory, even if that theory is incorrect. How can different individuals utilize conspiracy theories to push their own agenda? #UWJ201 #317
"Should we treat social media platforms in a way that requires more responsibility?" I think that if twitter can pick up on certain trends, hashtags and such that can be seen as dangerous, twitter should limit these posts publicity. #UWJ201 #317
Looking back into the Queens Gambit article, it really displays how powerful the media is when used as a tool for mass communication. Its influential enough to make sales for a board game displayed in a TV show skyrocket after the show grew in popularity. #UWJ201 #317
Last lecture, we took a look into the past and saw how different political officers used a variety of techniques to avoid or dodge questions. How would a candidate from the modern days fair if he had been put in the 1930's debate room? #UWJ201 #317
@letscher2002 All of these can be great examples of mass communication. In particular, Music can spread the word around the globe about trends, slang and give insight into different areas of the world. This is also seen when a song is played on the radio, reaching various people. #UWJ201 #317
