I am excited to share a new preprint on genome evolution in truffles, with a strong emphasis on transposable elements and divergence times. It was a great collaboration with @tatti_alessia, @orotastabelli, and other great collegues beyond X. https://t.co/4eAZM1DUHj
Exciting update!
Repbase and Dfam are being unified into a single, fully open access framework, with Repbase released under CC-0 and its core curation team joining the Dfam project.

Dive into the massive genomes of plant pathogenic rust fungi! 🌿🍄
Our study reveals how ancestral & recent bursts of transposition have shaped these remarkable genomes.
👏 Congrats to @Emma______C on her 1st PhD paper!

1/2 You can finally have a glimpse of one of the latest projects I've been working on, with collegues from @evocom_unibo@Unibo! 🧬🐜
#biodiversity#genomics of an Italian #ant species with a pretty peculiar life history

Additionally, we deposited novel freely available high-quality SINE models on DFAM. Thanks to @AndreaLuchett10 , Fabrizio Ghiselli, Mariangela Iannello and all the @evocom_unibo group.
SINEs in 🦪 just out in @MobDNAjournal. We identified novel SINE-LINE partnerships, shared LINE tails between different SINE superfamilies, and families shared between #bivalve species separated by hundreds of millions of years 🤯

What occurs to a trait groundplan when the trait isn't expressed anymore in the phenotype? We provided novel insight into the cryptic persistence of a lost trait molecular architecture, driven by gene pleiotropy on other traits and within their co-expression network!

Come join my research group in Bonn @Leibniz_LIB & @UniBonn on an @ERC_Research-funded PhD position to study population dynamics of the fascinating germline-restricted chromosome of songbirds. You can DM @yfpei and me for questions.

Studying #transposableelements (#TE) in nonmodel species is challenging since most of the repetitive content remains unknown 🧐 We performed manual curation to improve the annotation of TE in 9 strains of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi #AMF@Blunt_Microbe

We are go for Launch! Excited to announce that my Starship proposal on giant #transposons in #fungal#genomes has been awarded an #ERCCoG!!! This will mean opportunities for postdoc and PhD position, so stay tuned for more.
This month's Highlight explores the secrets of longevity in bivalve mollusks, including clams, mussels, oysters, and scallops, with some species living up to 500 years. https://t.co/woKQ1nCl4a @mar_ian_89@forni_giobbe @GioPiccio93 @JacopoM4 @f_ghiselli @evocom_unibo@Unibo
Are you planning to perform CRISPR/Cas9 to delete TEs in Drosophila? 🧬✂️🧬Check out our (@GonzalezLab_BCN) protocol in @STARProtocols 👇

Pleased that our paper on the genomic basis and evolutionary history of female colour polymorphism in Ischnura damselflies is now published in @NatureEcoEvo, led by former PhD-student Beatriz Willink 1/
🧬‼️ So glad @erga_biodiv selected TWO species proposed by the research group @evocom_unibo where I'm PhD-ing!!
Congrats @forni_giobbe and @AndreaLuchett10 and good luck 🍀 (1/2)
