Local minima are extremely rare in high dimensional spaces, so if you ever feel stuck in a rut it’s probably just because you aren’t considering a wide enough set of orthogonal options
One of my favorite lessons I’ve learnt from working with smart people:
Action produces information. If you’re unsure of what to do, just do anything, even if it’s the wrong thing. This will give you information about what you should actually be doing.
Sounds simple on the surface - the hard part is making it part of your every day working process.
Today marks one year since Cap launched. In that time, we’ve proven both our model and our resilience.
Here’s a look back at everything we’ve delivered.
honestly Eliza / ai16z feels like one of the biggest failures of web3
we're talking about one guy that shipped Claude Code / OpenClaw almost 15 months before everyone else
and a token that went from a few million to 2.5B at ATH
i'm not sure what went wrong. one thing i know for sure is that right now ELIZA should be as big as Nous / Prime Intellect, with enough funding to build a real lab & develop products - not just an open-source framework.
imo that should be the target of every launchpad, how do we enable a founder to grow & to build a real business from a product & a token.
i feel like it's getting better now than it was a few years ago.
the second unsolved issue is the toxicity around a token. i have no idea if shaw bundled the token, made tons of money with it etc. but it's funny how everyone assumes he did - and that he doesn't deserve it.
like we're in the only industry where people can speculate on your shit, do a 100x (we all know people that did 6, 7 or 8 digits on his token).
but when the founder, the guy that does all the work, pushes the 10,000 commits on the repo - has the audacity to make some money, yeah let's fucking destroy him.
i know transparency is a double-edged sword, but i don't want to live in a world where all founders wait for a multi-billion-dollar valuation to go public and all value is captured by institutions / VCs.
Its so ironic that crypto went from an industry fanatically obsessed with bearer assets and physical custody under self governance to one entirely dominated by asset-less derivatives markets (perps/prediction) governed by oracles.
you will own nothing and be happy.
A Modest Proposal For Updating Ethereum Issuance
Create a committee charged with overseeing the network's open market operations. This committee could meet four times a year in Montenegro. Each meeting, the committee will decide the staking rate via quadratic voting.
🚨 New EIP: Tapered Issuance Burn
We just submitted an EIP to ethereum/EIPs: a minimal, market-driven fix to Ethereum's issuance policy removing the incentive for stake growth beyond 50% of ETH supply.

Tricking the US Government to protect frontier labs’ business model by using a China boogeyman is a mistake.
It is protecting the equity of 5,000 people who are investors in OAI and Ant at the sale of everyone else. This would be a terribly stupid decision.
Let the market sort this out!
The events of the past few weeks may simply mean that the frontier labs’ business model is not good and that their revenues aren’t sustainable.
That’s ok. It’s ok to have a business model that worked for some time then all of a sudden didn’t (remember Groupon)!
This still leaves a lot of value for a lot of other American companies:
- CPUs
- GPUs
- hyperscalers
- neoclouds
- rack manufacturers
- electricity and power
- skilled trades
- application layer AI
None of this value goes away. In fact, if the model layers’ costs decrease by 10-100x, competition would accelerate and I would argue that the value to everyone else will go up more than what is lost.
Let the free market sort this out vs allowing two companies whose stock is owned by less than 5,000 people decide this for America.
no one is against american ai labs. if anything, most ppl here want american companies to win, esp against our geopolitical adversaries. there is virtually zero doubt about that.
what people are pushing back on is how they win.
if american ai is going to lead, it should do so by building the best products & models, not through regulatory capture or other artificial advantages. if someone is distilling your models or otherwise exploiting them, securing your systems is your responsibility, esp if you claim to have built frontier ai.
winning cuz you’re better is honorable & durable. winning cuz competition is constrained isn’t.
