Since he’s in Turkey right now, I am calling on Dr. Hugh Thomas @DrHughT to visit Karahan Tepe, and report on the dozen+ holes that were dug in the middle of *unexcavated* ruins at the site!

As you can see in the images below, these holes were dug next to unexcavated T-Pillars (the tops are exposed at the surface), mere steps away from these 20+ft deep pits!

This raises serious concerns as to whether any ruins were damaged in the process of digging them.
Additionally, the approval for the completion of the roof was recently DENIED, and new holes will have to be dug! What exactly was the reason for the permit denial? And why exactly do new holes have to be dug? 🤔

These are important questions, and the public has a right to know.

I should also mention that Dr. Hugh Thomas previously denied that these holes were dug for the support beams that will hold the new roof, claiming they were simply for “excavation”. This was false, as authorities from the Turkish Ministry have publicly confirmed that these holes are for the roof complex.

The reality is that they drilled a dozen+ holes in the middle of an unexcavated field of ~12,000yr old ruins 🤯

TRADERS ARE BETTING AGAINST THE YEN AT THE SECOND HIGHEST LEVEL EVER RECORDED

And this is happening just days after Japan and the US spent an estimated $88 billion trying to stop the yen from falling.

Combined net short positions from asset managers and leveraged funds hit -205,000 contracts as of July 28, just short of the 2024 record. Hedge funds alone are the most bearish since 2007.

The intervention happened, and traders went right back to shorting.

USD/JPY hit 155.2 after the intervention and has already jumped back to 158.5.

In 2024, positioning reached a similar extreme. When it unwound, the yen moved violently as everyone rushed to close at once.

That was the August 2024 crash that took global stocks down with it.

Two ways this resolves:

If the BOJ keeps lagging on rate hikes, some institutional investors see 200 as a realistic tail risk.

If this positioning unwinds, USD/JPY could fall toward 150 as traders scramble to buy back yen.

Either way, the market has decided the intervention changed nothing.

The rate gap is still there, and until the BOJ closes it, no amount of spending fixes the problem.

Diametric Cyclotron Transit Through a Polywell

Here’s a weird idea that might be worth a closer look. Take a running Poly well, polyhedral magnets forming a magnetic cusp trap with a null at the center, electrons injected to create a deep electrostatic potential well, and park a cyclotron outside it. Align the cyclotron so its extracted ion beam fires straight through one face cusp, across the magnetic null and potential well, and out the opposite cusp.That’s it. No internal acceleration stages, no complicated injectors inside the vacuum vessel. Just an external, mature accelerator feeding a high-energy, collimated beam through the heart of the device.

What happens to that beam is the interesting part. Near the entry cusp the ions feel strong magnetic gradients. Magnetic moment is roughly conserved until they hit the null, where B ≈ 0 and the adiabatic invariants break. They then cross the central electrostatic well, which acts as a thick, energy-dependent lens: attractive for positive ions, repulsive for electrons, with radial focusing or defocusing set by well depth and beam energy. On the way out they encounter the opposite cusp optics again.

Add a dense plasma core (high-β Polywell operation) and the transit becomes even richer: partial neutralization, charge-state stripping, possible beam–plasma instabilities, wake fields, or even beam-target fusion reactions if the Polywell is fueled. The beam that emerges on the far side can carry a modified energy spectrum, altered emittance, mixed charge states, temporal structure, or an admixture of fusion products and secondary radiation. In short, the Polywell becomes a hybrid magnetic-electrostatic beam modifier that no conventional beamline can easily replicate.

Existing Polywell work already injects electron (and sometimes ion) beams through the cusps to form and sustain the well. Compact neutron-source designs have proposed ion-beam injection into a Polywell plasma target, but a dedicated external cyclotron firing a high-energy beam diametrically through a live device as a deliberate beam-transport or exotic-source stage does not appear in the literature. That gap is useful.

Possible applications are straightforward to list: compact neutron generators with an extra energy knob, specialized ion beams for materials testing, diagnostic probes that sample the core plasma on the way through, or even a hybrid driver stage for advanced fuels. The engineering hurdles are real, magnetic shielding of the cyclotron, vacuum interfaces, heat loads on the coils, diagnostics, but none look fundamentally prohibitive.

Single-particle tracking through realistic cusp + well fields, followed by simple beam-plasma estimates, would quickly show whether the “strange” effects are large enough to be interesting. If they are, a small-scale experiment becomes the obvious next step.

The configuration is simple enough to describe in a paragraph and rich enough to keep theorists and experimentalists occupied for a while. Sometimes the best ideas are the ones that just look a little weird at first glance.
