Awesomeness

[Governor JB Pritzker @GovPritzker]

COVID-19 cases are soaring. Hospitals are filling up. And nearly all of the people ending up there – needing dire medical care to stay alive – are unvaccinated.

You don't have to let this virus take your life. Get vaccinated today: https://t.co/pHGNXftFP3

[Illinois State Board of Education @ISBEnews]

Led by guidance from @CDCgov, @GovPritzker has announced an order requiring K-12 school staff, students, and visitors to wear masks indoors, regardless of vax status. Masks offer the simplest, most effective way to keep students safely in school, where they can learn and grow.

In Early Childhood, Ms. O'Brien's class is learning about reptiles, so Mr. Dave showed us a frog, an iguana and an alligator!

At Ardmore, the Early Childhood students were scientists this as we explored colors and made chemical reactions with baking soda & colored vinegar. It was super exciting watching the bubbles form right before our eyes. #D45learn4life #D45EChildhood

Grateful for my two children. They are the best teachers. I’ve learned kindness, patience, and so much more from them. “Children are not vessels to be filled, but candles to be lit.” Same for parents. Same for us all. #ThankfulThursday Raising children lifts our spirits.

@schoolpsych45 @JacklinDenise Thank you, Cyndi! It’s great to start putting my well being on the table. It will help me stay healthy to better serve my students ❤️

1st week of Wellness Wednesdays was a success!! Early Childhood staff took 1,223,807 steps this past week! That’s about 612 miles! Tonight we shared a yoga class via Zoom. Making sure our staff’s well-being is taken care of ensures they’re ready to give 100% to your child!

Congratulations @D45EChildhood teachers, staff, and families. Our preschool program was awarded the Gold Circle of Quality from ISBE. This is the highest ranking a program can receive. Way to go! #D45learn4life

Take a moment & appreciate the principals and central office administrators. This global pandemic is leading to a lot of sleepless nights and stress filled days for them. No decision is simple or easy right now and nothing prepared them for this.

Saying good bye is never easy! I hope my students all have a wonderful summer. I am sooooo very proud of them & miss them very, very much. Here’s to lots of sunshine! #d45schools #d45EChildhood https://t.co/VeIJk0QFjg

Schools are not childcare. So when some say that schools need to reopen so parents have childcare and can return to work, they are diminishing the work of teachers. Don't get me wrong. We care for your children. So much so, we also teach them regardless of format.

I don’t know what will happen this fall when schools across the US should be opening, but I do know that worrying about it will not change anything. Try your best to enjoy your summer break when it comes and focus on your mental health.

[Amy OCallaghan @JajkaOc]

Getting ready to say good bye to my preschoolers for the year. A zoom meeting isn’t exactly how I ever imagined our year would end. Here’s hoping my end of the year slideshow brings smiles & laughter to bring on the summer. #d45echildhood #d5schools
