Many Mormon men around my age (40) are becoming significantly more nuanced in their faith. Many view it as a winning culture, worth investing in but no longer believe that it’s God’s one true church (which is Mormon doctrine). But, you’re right, this approach has a zero percent chance of persuading a believing member.

@coryclements_ It’s lame to deny someone faith regardless, but imo it’s not a big deal, people know what they believe. Faith seems internal, not requiring external validation.

I find the Mormon pearl clutching at being told they aren’t Christians, ironic. Mormonism taught me that other Christians weren’t real Christians because they lacked authority. How is it different?

@coryclements_ Authority was the clearest differentiator I could identify between us and Christians I spoke with as a missionary. Otherwise I didn’t have much to offer them; they believed the things I believed. But proper authority/ordinance’s validated Mormonism and invalidated all others.
