Practice = baseball activities you need to do with teammates, such as bullpens, PFP, fielding, throwing, game velo batting practice, live AB's, situation defense, bunting, situational hitting, base running. SKILLS that require coaches, teammates and game situations to develop.

I heard a story awhile back that made me laugh as hard as I ever have

Kids a draft prospect/SEC commit in baseball

Also the star QB for the football team

Football coach brings him in - says “we need you at every spring practice”

Player - “I have baseball practice and games”

Football coach - “doesn’t matter - we need you at spring practice”

Player - “so you are asking me to pick baseball or football?”

Football Coach - “yes we need you at practice”

Player - “well you are going to need a new QB because I’m going to play baseball”

I LAUGHED SO DAMN HARD BECAUSE YOU CAN GUARANTEE THE COACH DIDNT EXPECT THE KID TO CALL HIS BLUFF

If a coach wants you pick a single sport and give up the other (that you have a huge future in especially) that guy is a 🤡

Also it’s usually the more old school guys (especially smaller town football in Texas) trying to guilt trip teenagers into building the coaches legacy (and often times run the player into the ground for an extra W on the record- not sorry for pointing this out)

I’m glad the kid had the stones to stand up for himself - I know he wanted to play both but coach forced his hand - and the kid acted in his best interest NOT THE ADULT WHO WOULD HAVE BENEFITED FROM DERAILING THE KIDS BASEBALL CAREER
