What happened at @startupfest yesterday was antisemitism. Pure & simple. Disguised under a thin veil of advocacy, and everyone in the room saw right through it.

I was on stage with Georges St-Pierre talking about entrepreneurship. Not politics. A man burst in screaming horrible accusations at me anyway. Third time in 2 years, including at the opening of a Jewish community centre.

My parents were in the front row. I'll never forget their faces.

When the target is always the Jew and never the topic, it's not advocacy. It's hate.

The room booed him down and cheered as he was walked out. I'm grateful for that.

Hate got escorted out. We got right back to building.

9:06am: Another woman bought hot sauce.

9:07am: A teenager bought hot sauce and batteries.

I said to the cashier, "Should I get hot sauce?"

She said, "Honey you're Japanese aren't you?"

I said yes.

She said, "Then yes. But also rice."

I put back 36 waters.

I bought hot sauce.

And rice.

And red beans.

I did not know the recipe.

The line behind me nodded like I had finally understood America.

9:14am: The man with Zapp's chips said, "Weather's gonna be bad."

I said, "I have twelve hot sauces."

He said, "You'll be fine."

At checkout my cart confused the register.

The screen flashed.

The cashier read it out loud:

"Water: zero. Hot sauce: twelve. Rice: four."

The whole line clapped.

I do not think they were making fun of me.

I think they were proud.

She handed me a receipt and a free hurricane candle.

The receipt had a note printed at the bottom:
