If the adults in our young people's lives struggle with emotional regulation, how do we expect them to.
It's important for adults to lead by example & support children in learning these essential skills.
Our young people learn from what they see,not what they're told🧠🌱
Another great success story and what a guy, a true care hero. in 2017, I got sacked from my job at Hertfordshire Council because I didn't like the way children in their care were being treated, so I called it out and certain peope in power didn't like it. I wasn't staying silent, if you know me then you understand. Anyhow, this was when I decided that I was going to write about my experience, and campaign for children and young people in our care system because I had seen too much damage from both sides of the spectrum. When I see bee books like this it makes me incredibly proud. I have met so many amazing care champions along the way and Ashley is one of those. I'm honoured to have shared a stage with him, a great speaker. Please, please, please support him and order his book, it's life changing, inspiring. #changeiscoming
"My grandmother said she would come and haunt me if I ever missed a vote for all the work that they had done to get girls and women the vote".
Brenda Oldfield is 89 and has voted in every election. She tells us why voting matters.
Benjamin Zephaniah "If you didn't have troublemakers, most women wouldn't have the right to vote, a black person wouldn't be talking to a white person and I'd be back in slavery. We need troublemakers to challenge the establishment. I want to be one of those people."

It’s time to turn the page on 14 years of broken Conservative Government.
We should be having a General Election, but you can help defeat the Tories next on 2 May in the local elections.
A good launch of @PlymouthLabour’s campaign tonight. 🌹
Dear 🇬🇧,
I’m so fed up with the @IEALondon and their mates trying to convince you that you need to bin the NHS. It’s time to bin the IEA. They’re leading the war against the NHS and it’s time for all of us to fight back.

Are you a professional working with people impacted by child sexual abuse in #Devon or #Cornwall?

Left: Rishi Sunak criticises Labour councils for for raising council taxes and cutting services
Right: Chair of the Local Government Association, Shaun Davies, explains how since the Conservative party took over in 2010 they have cut funding to local councils by over 27% @CllrShaunDavies
So the Conservative party cuts funding to councils. The cost of providing services has increased. And demand for services has also increased. Meaning, the reason why councils across the country are struggling, and cutting services, is because the Conservative party have cut funding to councils
Don't get angry at underfunded councils, get angry at the Conservative party who have underfunded them. And if you keep voting Conservative, expect even more cuts to public services
Many women notice that ADHD worsens throughout their menstrual cycle. In my clinical practice, I also speak to many women whose ADHD has worsened during their perimenopause, or they have recently been diagnosed with ADHD around the same time they reached perimenopause or menopause. .
This paper discusses the evidence and discusses mechanisms that may trigger or exacerbate symptoms of ADHD at different phases of the cycle related to hormone changes having effects on the brain.
These changes include:
1) heightened irritability, more anger and anxiety, and more sensitive to different sensations, often due to reduction of progesterone levels in the second half of the cycle
2) changes in cognitive functioning, depression, inability to feel pleasure and anxiety, due to low oestradiol levels (which occurs before periods)
3) increases in reward-seeking behaviour, such as substance abuse and proactive aggression, driven by sudden increases in oestradiol levels that occur during ovulation.
Many women find their symptoms related to ADHD improve with the right dose and type of hormones, often a combination of oestradiol, progesterone and testosterone. Clearly more research needs to be done in this area.
A bitterly cold Saturday evening took everyone by surprise with many people asking for warm clothes & gloves. 3 sleeping bags given to people rough sleeping. Another busy evening, 75 people served + 10 extra bags for friends / family. Many thanks to the team from Plymstock United
