I have no idea who this guy or who this new pope is (really I don’t, yet) but I am a huge fan of “It doesn’t matter who the message comes from if the message is good!”)
I implore you — if you are viewing the election of Pope Leo XIV through the lens of American left/right politics, stop now for the good of your soul
Celebrate the election of the Holy Father
Pray for him and his pontificate
Pray that you may have the humility to follow him where he calls you to grow
Trust in the Holy Spirit, for the Holy Spirit will never abandon Christ’s Church
You are not called to commentate on the Holy Father’s pontificate
You are called to act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God
You are called to be a saint
Focus on that, and everything else will fall into place
@RevRichardColes Oh gosh oh gosh gosh gosh - there is no “r” what are you talking about
Mee - el-lé or mee-é-lé and if you don’t know é it’s an eh or an æ sound
@CanadianDad42@acoyne But do they draw those parliamentary representatives blindly like they do for jury duty, and then give them a character and competence test? Wouldn’t that be fairer? I think it would. Political parties are collusions built on ideology and connections. I cannot ratify that.
@acoyne I can see your point, but see this: voting is ratifying the concession of power to WHOEVER wins. When you’ve lost confidence in the way democracy works, the by-whom-for-whom and how, and the absence of concern for off-platform policy feedback and ideas, you can elect not to vote.
@SDubosq @LeBronMaclean Um excuse me no. I have a list of Collective Nouns for Animals that would make you weep for joy, and poetry that would make you take the week off to walk alone across the prairies. English has the bigger dictionary. We have amazing words we’re personally too dull to use
@1BornConfused @LeBronMaclean Fun fact: A ha-ha is the “opposite” of a fence: a walled moat dug to defend a perimeter or make an enclosure, without interrupting the view
Every English Canada riding is named like "Toronto Centre" or "Vancouver East," while every Quebec riding is named something like "Cinqant-Iles-Et-Les-Haricots-Vert-Hon-Hon-Hon"
