Understanding conflict requires looking beyond what is visible on the surface.
To strengthen this approach, ACFODE staff participated in an internal training on systems thinking in conflict analysis, facilitated by Ms Joy Okono Dinah.
The session explored how social, economic, political and cultural factors interact to influence conflict, helping participants develop a more holistic approach to analysing community dynamics.
Strengthening these skills equips our team to design more informed, context-responsive programmes that address the root causes of conflict and contribute to more sustainable, inclusive solutions for the communities we serve.

📢 Call for Consultants
Action for Development (ACFODE) invites qualified consultants and firms to submit proposals to conduct a Gender Assessment of the implementation of the Parish Development Model (PDM) in Uganda.
The assessment will examine women's participation, access to resources, decision-making, benefit realization, and accountability mechanisms within the PDM, generating evidence to inform policy dialogue, advocacy, and programming for gender-responsive development.
📍 Study areas: Mukono, Wakiso, and Mpigi Districts
🗓 Submission deadline: 23rd June 2026
Interested consultants are encouraged to review the Terms of Reference (TORs) and submit their technical and financial proposals.

Protecting communities starts with the simple actions we take every day.
As Uganda responds to the Ebola outbreak, this is a reminder that staying informed, acting early, and looking out for one another can help keep communities safe.
✅ Wash your hands regularly with soap and clean water.
✅ Seek medical attention early when symptoms appear.
✅ Follow trusted public health guidance and avoid misinformation.
✅ Limit physical contact when unwell or caring for someone who is sick.
Let us stay calm, informed, and united in protecting one another.

At ACFODE, we know that when women’s rights organizations are strong, our communities are stronger.
For years, international partnerships have helped us provide legal aid and GBV response services to those who need them most. But today, these "hard-won gains" are under threat. The attempt to label global solidarity as "foreign influence" via the Sovereignty Bill risks silencing the voices of Ugandan women and girls.
A truly sovereign nation is one where every woman can participate safely and with dignity. Let’s stand together to protect our civic space and ensure that justice remains accessible to all.
📢 Join us in saying NO to the Sovereignty Bill.

Strengthening our impact through learning and reflection.
We held a half-day capacity building workshop focused on Outcome Mapping and Outcome Harvesting, alongside reflecting on lessons learned from previous trainings, including AI & Digital Skills and Environment & Green Entrepreneurship.
This session meant to create space for reflection, knowledge sharing, and strengthening how we design, implement, and measure our programs.
Special shout-out to @JoyOkono who facilitated the workshop
Because meaningful impact is not just about what we do, it’s about how well we learn, adapt, and grow.
Building stronger systems for lasting change.

We are privileged to have been part of the global launch of the 2025 Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) Key Findings Report hosted online, represented by our Communications Officer, @JanetAine17 .
The discussions revealed a reality we cannot ignore, five years on, women’s presence in the media has grown by only 1%. Too often, women are portrayed in narrow roles: as homemakers, celebrities, or victims of GBV. Even more concerning, while women make up the majority of GBV survivors, stories about them account for just 1% of media coverage.
Panelists reflected on how digital platforms have opened new avenues for women to tell their own stories, yet these spaces remain unsafe, with bullying and hate silencing many voices. It was clear that civil society must do more, working hand in hand with journalists, influencers, and digital actors to create spaces where women feel safe, respected, and empowered to speak.
At @acfode , we echo this call. Visibility should not be mistaken for vulnerability, it should be seen as power. As we mark 40 years of amplifying women’s voices, we remain committed to being part of this global movement for change.

The smile of an empowered woman is a quiet revolution.
It’s the joy of finding her voice.
The pride of standing tall.
The power of knowing she matters.
For almost 40 years, ACFODE has walked with women across Uganda from rural villages to policy chambers; unlocking potential, restoring dignity, and igniting change.
This smile isn’t just happiness.
It’s resilience, freedom, and a future reimagined.
