We recently learned of the loss of human control and the creation of potentially dangerous viruses from AI.
AI leaders pledged to pause development if they could no longer safely control it.
Mr. Altman, Mr. Amodei, Mr. Zuckerberg: Keep your word.
PAUSE AI DEVELOPMENT.
Ceuta was „neither a genuine humanitarian crisis nor part of an anti-colonial struggle, but part of efforts by the growing US-Israeli-Moroccan nexus (…) to weaken a progressive European government, divide Europe, and undermine international law.“

"The problem with writing with A.I. is that it’s mentally enfeebling...
What, uniquely, does writing do? ... It compels thinking in ways that silent contemplation or spoken language rarely can."
CIVICUS, a monitor, says it has downgraded the U.S. civic space rating to “obstructed” and warns of a “rapid authoritarian shift” as the freedoms to protest, organize on campuses, and report independently face pressure at once.

I cannot remember the United States ever apologising for "overcapacity" when it was the world's leading industrial power. Should Italy apologise for its overcapacity in fashion, France for its overcapacity in wine, the UK for its overcapacity in financial services, or Belgium for its overcapacity in chocolate?
*** The real challenge of our time is that centuries of Western dominance have come to an end, and there is a need to adjust to a multipolar world.

Trump WH Admits It Canceled Energy Grants Based on How States Voted
A federal court stipulation says the Trump WH used states’ 2024 votes and Senate representation as a partisan litmus test for canceling clean-energy grants nationwide.

@jasonhickel Exactly, did my thesis on this: the state steering of loans and subsidies to specific industries that really did work, had nothing to do with 'free capitalism'. Other essential factors no one ever mentions, are land distribution reforms as well as broad public education reforms.
Hard to even process -- a president selling market-moving information to banks and wealthy investors in advance of everyone else, and personally pocketing hundreds of millions of dollars from it. This alone is more worthy of impeachment than 100 Watergate cover-ups.
Don’t fall for the fake Fox/GOP outrage. Two weeks ago the House passed a bill that greenlighted the transfer of Spanish territory to Morocco. Every Republican except me voted for it, but now THEY are acting shocked at the invasion.

He doesn't care anymore. It's just non-stop, in-your-face corruption.
The latest? If you pay Trump $100,000 a month, he will give you advance White House announcements on economic and trade policy.

The era of Little Brother is watching you ... At some point the intelligence agencies realised that getting people to watch one-another, was a very cost efficient way to do mass surveillance of everyone in every situation. Yes, everyday items with inbuilt recording abilities - including smart watches - should be banned!
❗️Meta's smart glasses could be banned in Germany and the rest of the EU.
Hamburg data protection commissioner Thomas Fuchs, Meta's lead regulator in Germany, says his office tested the glasses, found the recording LED too easy to miss, and concluded that filming people in public with them breaks data protection law. It is already issuing fines.
His verdict: a camera disguised as an everyday object is illegal to sell or own in Germany. Only the Bundesnetzagentur can order that ban; it is reportedly reviewing.
France's CNIL warned about the whole category in May, and the European Data Protection Board's report on smart glasses is due this summer.
Marco Rubio pretends that the International Criminal Court jeopardizes American sovereignty. What he really wants is the right for Americans to commit war crimes even on the territory of ICC member states with impunity. No one buys that form of "justice." https://t.co/pbOQ9RLPbg
no, this was completely engineered by the US, Israel, and Morocco. This is how Sanchez, and Spain at large, are punished for challenging Israel, and "re-educated" to fall back in line with western imperial objectives.
So if I purchase a DVD and digitize it, that’s copyright infringement. But if an AI company buys my book and scans it to train their system, that’s perfectly fine? Once again, corporations are allowed to play by their own rules. I’m so sick of the hypocrisy.
Some folks don’t believe that a “principled AI company” would destroy books after they suck out all the information for their models, even one-of-a-kind books and manuscripts.
Here it is admitted in open court.
