I had a great time at the @jas_wdc street festival! I was honored to help open the festival with the sake barrel ceremony. I met world-renowned sumo wrestlers, superstars of @npb & @expo2025japan's mascot, MYAKU-MYAKU! I was glad to see so many people enjoying Japanese culture.

It was an honor to introduce the National Bunraku Theatre & Dr. Jyana Browne at the #DCJICC. Bunraku, Japanese puppet theater, is recognized by @UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. It was fantastic to see many young Americans enjoying an art that is more than 300 years old!

I was delighted to meet countertenor @daichi_sings & guitarist @amiinoi! Their inspiring performance at our #DCJICC was received with a standing ovation, and I was happy to hear they hope to return to the DC-area to perform again!

I met with educators, community members & representatives of 🇯🇵-🇺🇸 organizations for a Nihongo Roundtable. We discussed ways to promote and enhance Japanese language education in the US, which is a key part of strengthening our bilateral relationship.
