Le #Rwanda a noué des partenariats avec deux institutions, l'une française et l'autre turque, qui collaboreront avec lui dans le développement des sciences forensiques appliquées à la justice.
Cette coopération a été obtenue lors de la conférence internationale « International Association of Forensic Sciences (#IAFS2026) », consacrée au développement des preuves scientifiques et technologiques utilisées dans le système judiciaire, organisé dans la ville de #Sofia, en #Bulgarie.

Cette conférence internationale réunit des chercheurs, des scientifiques, des experts en technologies ainsi que d'autres professionnels afin d'échanger sur les solutions aux défis auxquels le secteur est confronté.

Le #Rwanda y est représenté par le Rwanda Forensic Institute (@ForensicsRwanda ), en collaboration avec l'African Forensic Sciences Academy (#AFSA), dont le siège est installé à Kigali depuis 2022.

Dans un entretien accordé à l' @IGIHE, le Directeur général de RFI, Dr Charles Karangwa, a indiqué que cette conférence, ouverte le 25 mai 2026, a permis au Rwanda d'acquérir une riche expérience ainsi que de nouveaux partenaires.

Le Brésil accueillera la Conférence mondiale de l’IAFS en 2029 !

L’annonce officielle a été faite ce 28 mai 2026 à 22h00 à Sofia, en Bulgarie, par le Président du Conseil de l’IAFS, à l’issue du processus de sélection auquel participait également le Rwanda.

Même si la candidature rwandaise n’a pas été retenue, cette étape marque une nouvelle avancée pour le pays dans le domaine des sciences forensiques. Opposé au Brésil, candidat pour la cinquième fois, le Rwanda s’est distingué par une présentation saluée pour son professionnalisme, sa vision et la détermination de son équipe.

Pour les représentants rwandais, cette candidature a permis de renforcer la visibilité internationale du Rwanda ainsi que celle des institutions telles que le RFI et l’AFSA, engagées dans le développement des capacités scientifiques et de la coopération africaine en matière de médecine légale et de sciences forensiques.

Cette expérience illustre également la volonté du Rwanda de poursuivre ses ambitions sur la scène internationale, avec une approche fondée sur la résilience, l’apprentissage continu et l’innovation.

Dr. Karangwa highlighted that RFI’s uniqueness lies in its integrated structure, housing more than 10 laboratories under one institution, unlike in many countries where forensic labs are scattered across different security agencies and often inaccessible or expensive for civilians.
