🚨REALITY🚨
“They only made the team because they are fast”
This will forever be the case.
A fast athlete with meh skills will always be ready to contribute, even if they are new to the sport.
Don’t like it? GET FASTER!
"If you want to be a great player nobody should have to coach you playing hard. They should never have to coach effort."
Effort and enthusiasm are requirements NOT something the should have to be requested.
If you’re not bringing both, you’re not serious about winning.

Coaches have favorites.
But, it's not personal; it's performance.
It's about who works hard, is coachable, and delivers consistently.
It's about who embodies the team's values and drives everyone forward.
Be that player, and you'll be the favorite.
🚨SPEED MATTERS🚨
Heard an athlete from another sport tell a track kid “you’d only make the team bc you’re fast”
Umm… YEAH🤷🏿♂️
In HS the easiest way on any team is to be FAST AND ATHLETIC even w/ so-so sports skills
Yet kids resist improving athleticism
GET FASTER!
🚨TRACK MINDSET YOUNG ATHLETES NEED TO UNDERSTAND🚨
In competition there’s no more thinking. No more analyzing, no more worrying about times
GET ON THE LINE AND GO FROM POINT A TO POINT B AS FAST AS POSSIBLE
The job: beat the person next to you and the time will come
HS Athlete 1st❓to me: “What do you think of pre-workout?”
Me: “Are you eating 3-4 balanced meals with high-quality🍳protein? Drinking 80 oz.💧? Sleeping 7-9 hours?”
Athlete: “No, I don't have time.”
Me: “Okay, until you do that, here's the equivalent of what you're doing.” 🩹
🚨I’LL CONSTANTLY SAY AND BELIEVE THIS🚨
Once an athlete gets to high school (maybe even middle school)
1 sport a season
1 team a season
They don’t need to be playing on 3 teams in the fall, 3 in the winter, and 3 in the spring or offseason stuff
Lock in for one per season
“Don’t be a blame guy. That’s the first sign of loser mentality when you blame someone else for a mistake,” Kirby Smart
A winners response to adversity inspires others to seek greatness.
I'm remote training a 20 year-old soccer player from Sweden. Fantastic player who has detrained speed for years.
Takeways:
1) Overtraining (7 hours a day, Kobe Bryant-inspired)
2) Focussed on conditioning (said he trained like a marathon runner)
3) Not enough Rest-Recover-Sleep (again Kobe-inspired)
4) Lost weight due to overtraining
5) No Record-Rank-Publish (without monitoring, he was not aware of getting slower)
6) Developed tendinitis in both knees, one required surgery
Athletes have been sold a load of crap... that every elite athlete became elite because they outworked the others. Grind > Sleep
This cat is going to get fed!
PRE-PRACTICE CHECKLIST FOR LEADERS:
✅ Where's my attitude?
✅ Where's my energy level?
✅ How can we get better today?
✅ Who do I need to encourage?
✅ Who do I need to challenge?

Always. Be. Coaching.
Coach what’s in front of you, not what the sheet says.
Be clear and consistent with the standards that you expect.
We get what we allow.

🚨ONCE AGAIN🚨
ONE SPORT A SEASON
ONE TEAM A SEASON
PARENTS please realize your athlete’s body (especially at the HS level) won’t handle that wear and tear for long
And athletes are just halfway in for both teams they are on
Choose one team/sport and commit for that season!
