Michael Atherton, no words can truly express our gratitude for standing up for Imran Khan, especially when even many of his own have chosen silence. Your courage means a great deal. Pakistan owes you one.

Extremely thankful to International Media, cricket captains & human rights activists for raising voice against Torture on Imran Khan.
Here is the another big development as @SkySports airs this 18 mins interview of @Kasim_Khan_1999 & Sulaiman Khan with @Athersmike on how IK’s human rights are being violated blatantly in Pakistan by Asim Munir and Team!
🚨 PIMS DOCTORS BREAK THEIR SILENCE!
After the horrifying deaths of 14 infants amid allegations of criminal negligence, doctors are speaking out.
They report IMRAN KHAN is ANXIOUS and at times DISORIENTED due to prolonged solitary confinement and psychological mental torture ‼️
Khan at times even struggling to find his words like IMRAN RIAZ KHAN, when he was subverted to torture, inhumane condition and illegal detention !!
And while Imran Khan health is at stake, the SUPREME COURT’S DELAY IN ITS VERDICT IS DELAYING ACCESS TO MEDICAL TESTS & TREATMENT.
This is no longer just a legal delay. When a prisoner’s health may depend on a decision, EVERY DAY MATTERS.
JUSTICE DELAYED IS JUSTICE DENIED.
MEDICAL CARE CANNOT WAIT.
End the isolation. Allow independent personal doctors and full family access. DECIDE NOW. 🇵🇰

Dear Foreign Secretary,
I am writing to you with deep concern about the deteriorating situation surrounding the health and medical treatment of former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan.
The situation has now become extremely urgent. Pakistan’s Supreme Court ordered that Mr Khan receive medical treatment and medical supervision, including treatment at Shifa International Hospital and access to appropriate medical expertise. However, he was instead taken to a government hospital for a brief examination and was subsequently returned to prison. His party has now sought contempt proceedings over the alleged failure to comply with the court’s directions.
I would therefore like to ask the UK Government directly:
What concrete action has the UK Government taken regarding Imran Khan’s health and his access to proper, independent medical treatment?
The UK Government has previously stated in Parliament that UK ministers and officials, including the British High Commissioner in Islamabad, regularly raise concerns with the Pakistani Government regarding fundamental freedoms, humane detention and access to appropriate medical treatment for detainees, including Mr Khan.
If these concerns have already been raised, what response has the Pakistani Government given?
And, given the latest developments, will the Foreign Secretary now:
Request immediate assurances from the Pakistani Government regarding Mr Khan’s safety and medical care;
Press for access to independent medical professionals and his personal doctor;
Seek clarification as to why the Supreme Court’s medical directions were allegedly not followed;
Ensure that UK officials in Pakistan continue to monitor his condition closely; and
Make a clear public statement that the UK expects Pakistan to uphold humane detention, due process and internationally recognised human-rights standards?
This is no longer simply a political disagreement. Mr Khan is a 73-year-old former Prime Minister who is currently imprisoned, and serious concerns have been raised about his health and medical treatment.
I respectfully ask you to explain what action the UK Government is taking now, rather than simply expressing concern, and what further steps you are prepared to take if the Pakistani authorities fail to provide adequate and independent medical care.
I would be grateful for a clear and substantive response.
Yours sincerely,
@Ed_Miliband
