The mighty Edwin H. Gott gliding under the Aerial Lift Bridge tonight. At 1,004’ long and 105’ wide, she’s one of the iconic “1000‑footers” on the Great Lakes, with a colossal capacity of about 74,100 tons. A true workhorse, named for U.S. Steel’s former CEO.
On this rainy Saturday morning, the 1,004-foot Mesabi Miner makes a majestic entry into Duluth beneath the iconic Aerial Lift Bridge, as the expedition cruise ship Viking Octantis sits docked nearby at the Duluth Entertainment and Convention Center, showcasing the city’s dynamic blend of Great Lakes shipping and tourism.
