@sumanthraman After staging all the dramatic protests earlier, now they are afraid of the social media backlash if they approve an airport there. At this point, I believe there will be no significant progress regarding a new airport in Tamil Nadu for at least the next 5 yrs.

I’ve been watching the fallout of the Parandur airport cancellation closely, and as a journalist, I can’t just sit back and accept the surface level narrative. We have to question the intent behind this sudden U turn.

When a multi crore infrastructure project is scrapped halfway especially after land acquisition has already begun it sends a terrifying signal to anyone looking at Tamil Nadu as an investment destination.

So, let's ask the hard question: Is this decision genuinely about public welfare, or is it a calculated political move to avoid backlash?

Consistency is what businesses look for. If we start canceling major projects based on the political climate of the day, an investor is naturally going to ask:
"Is my project safe? Or will it be the next one to be stalled because of a sudden policy pivot?"

If policy stability can be tossed aside for political convenience, how do we convince global investors that their capital is secure here? Are we trading our state’s longterm industrial future for short-term political optics?
