Chemmani Mass Grave Excavation – Phase 3 | Day 39

During today’s excavation at the Chemmani mass grave site, 13 more human skeletons were cleaned and identified under Jaffna Magistrate Court supervision.

With today’s findings, the total number of human skeletons cleaned and identified across all three phases of the excavation has reached 467, while 444 human skeletons have now been fully exhumed.

A high-level European Union delegation, comprising eight members, is expected to visit the Chemmani mass grave excavation site tomorrow (22 July) at 9:00 a.m. The visit follows permission granted by the Jaffna Magistrate’s Court after a motion filed by the Office on Missing Persons (OMP).
