It is time for a serious conversation about the experiences of disabled workers in the NHS. Unisons ‘Disable Inequality’ campaign is equipping branches to get active and challenge disability discrimination.

Always measure your achievements against reality. If something is hard for you personally, don't measure against someone for whom it is easy - or an imaginary social expectation. Instead recognise your own achievements. #HiddenDisability#Fatigue#Hypermobility#Autism (1/2)
I really wanna put a book together for Men’s Mental health, I want it to be if any lad is feeling down and depressed, suicidal or lonely that they have something to read to motivate and re ensure them that they ain’t alone, so any people in that industry please message me, I don’t have a clue where to start.
@ahmedhankir Congratulations! Thank you for sharing your journey with us. How wonderful for a consultant Psychiatrist to share their lived experience. What a wonderful achievement.!
It is very hard to pace when I start feeling a bit better after a long period of being much worse than usual. I REALLY want to do all the things - but know that if I do I'll push myself back to horrible. The struggle is real.

If you sleep less than 8 hours a night, you’re more likely to:
1. Lose memory
2. Gain weight
3. Get diabetes
4. Have a stroke
5. Have a heart attack
6. Experience depression
7. Have high blood pressure
Want to avoid these?
Start doing these 9 habits tonight:
Decomplication
We’ve been led to believe that our everyday problems—weight loss, productivity, saving money—require complex solutions.
This is called ‘artificial complexity.’
Decomplication is the process of boiling problems down to their simplest form.

Many people who have lived through trauma experience #flashbacks - and people trying to be helpful can inadvertently make it worse - asking questions, touching etc. A written way of explaining what is happening and what you need can really help. Card from https://t.co/HmoPAuLvjq
Looking fine often means being asked to do physically challenging things - and you can feel a lot of pressure to say yes - otherwise people think you are lazy or unkind and not realise it will cause symptoms. Having a pre-prepared answer or card can help. https://t.co/jlo8GHxqfi
Sometimes the default position with fatigue-causing conditions is 'I must do everything I have energy for' - which can often worsen symptoms as we aren't designed to constantly operate at our limits. So today I'm doing less than I am able, and recharging.

Today is #PDAday - Pathological Demand Avoidance day. You can see more info here: https://t.co/XOWaPnMWwY
It's a condition that is seriously misunderstood by most people - even medical professionals, so please help spread awareness!

Never underestimate the effect of short breaks. I often fall into the trap of 'I'll just finish this first' - but the reality is that when I take short breaks, life is so much better! I get more done for less symptoms. #SelfCareSunday

If only people could telepathically 'see' behind the 'I'm coping' mask so many people with #HiddenDisabilities wear in public. So they could understand the struggles, limitations, and challenges we face.

Note to self: If #fatigue / #BrainFog levels have me reaching for sugar as artificial energy - it's time for a break! Lie down or move about, rest the brain, recharge - then return to the task when the actual energy levels can cope with it.

1/8 The school system is built on ableism. Testing, ranking and rewarding how “well” a persons brain and or body works smells a bit like eugenics principals to me.
