One bit of advice I like:
Write the book you want to read.
And I'll also add these:
Write the song you want to hear. Write the movie you want to watch. Write the article you want to read. Etc. Etc.
I honestly think the hardest part of writing is the near-constant self-doubt. We all want to write perfection, and are afraid of showing something that doesn't match what we see in our heads and our hearts. That can be crippling. We have to allow ourselves to stumble. #amwriting
@FoodleFumper I finished the first draft at 78k, but it's at 88k now :D I asked 10 total beta readers; two have quickly gotten back to me, and the others are getting there. I'm appreciating every bit of feedback, I never really used beta readers for my previous books!
@FoodleFumper I do tend to concentrate on one for a week or two, and then switch to the other if I get new ideas or feel burned out on the first one. Switching too fast really throws me off!
@CharEmmaLouise Start from a clean slate! I always feel so inspired and refreshed when my house is neat & tidy, and not cluttered with things I don't need.
