The panelist Sam Kelly, the Houston Chronicle Reporter, shared how to showcase the humanity and the power of sources as a reporter - talk about “the things that you care about” that may not “directly related to the subject that you're writing” is a good way to humanize people.
In the Q&A session, the panelist shared their opinions regarding the question about if everybody could just as efficiently report on any community regardless of their background and shared their own experience based on their backgrounds.
“The best story possible isn't always what's best for the source,” Kirby said that sometimes reporters should recognize want they are going to say. “Being objective and telling the story without any frills.”
The panelist Donte Kirby answer the question about how to build intentional trust. “You got to be willing to coach more than you would otherwise through the process,” he said he got to be “very transparent.”
