@Scott_Macey1@Smiling_Mind Did you know that 1 in 7 primary Ss experience mental health challenges? I'm going to use this resource to help improve my Ss mental health. Thanks for the share!
@Scott_Macey1 What a great cross-curricular resource! Thanks for the idea. Check out the #swapit program on the 'Good For Kids, Good For Life' website. This is a great program that helps support parents and Ss to improve Ss' lunchboxes, including healthy recipes! 🥦🍅🥕
@Scott_Macey1@MissEmmaPearson This is a great resource to ignite Ss' ideas for a community-based project! I like how it specifies the branches of #SDG3, allowing Ss to unpack the #SDG.
@Scott_Macey1 "Collaborative learning allows students to solve problems, construct explanations, critique other students’ reasoning, and engage in rich academic discourse." I will be using #collaborativelearning as a #skillintegration in my unit plan!
@Scott_Macey1@DaughterDad_AU Absolutely! Coming from someone who participated in and studied this program, I found it to be empowering & transformative! I specifically liked the idea of informing parents of good use of screens & 'Switching On' your child's mind by 'Switching Off' to reduce screen use.
@mrsperkoteaches This is such an important and current topic! This relates to my research into the topic of sports dropout for 12-13 YO children, which is a major concern. One reason for this is the costs involved in sports participation (e.g., travel costs). We need to keep competitions local!
@mrsperkoteaches I agree! This is something I will use to build a strong relationship with parents/carers & support my Ss. The #KindnessFactory have some great resources that promote acts of kindness. I also love the idea of teaching #Kindness & #CareandCompassion through literature!📚
@Miss_GRiley You've inspired me to do the same! @TwinklAustralia has some great well-being resources. I specifically like the resources 'My Bag of Worry and Sadness' and 'How Do I Feel Today'
@mrsperkoteaches As key adults in our Ss' lives, we go over and above to nudge them towards the 'flourishing' end of the mental health continuum. I like to do a daily check-in with each S so that I know who I need to nudge on that day. However, this was challenging during #lockdown☹️
@mrsperkoteaches@bitesizeSDGs I will continue to be active on #twitter and engage with the #SDGs! My Twitter journey has increased my knowledge in the education field and enabled me to connect with like-minded professionals!
I love the idea of teaching Ss 'big picture issues' through literature!📚The book 'Wonder' by R.J. Palacio empowers kindness & difference. It supports the #CoreAustralianValue#CareandCompassion. Kindness supports mental health & increases wellbeing. #SDG3#UoNTeach#EDUC4750
What a great resource to talk about big social issues with students. Poverty and Hunger by Louise Spilsbury and Hanane Kai beautifully convey how these tough issues affect people all over the world. What are your go-to resources for big issues? #educ4750#UoNTeach#SDG1#SDG2
@CodyBella08 @_AinsleyMcMahon Absolutely! Another great graphic organiser is a mind map. @padlet is a great tool that can be used in classrooms to promote S brainstorming & collaboration and helps to organise Ss ideas & establish relationships between them. #UoNTeach#EDUC4750#SDG3
@MissShanRose Yes! This is a great school/community project idea! It targets and promotes the sustainable development goal #3 'Good Health and Wellbeing' which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages. #UoNTeach#EDUC4750#SDG3@ConnectSDGs
As a key adult in my students' lives, noticing their mental health conditions & nudging them towards the 'flourishing' end of the continuum is a priority. This resource from @TwinklAustralia encourages my S to show me how they're feeling daily. #UoNTeach#EDUC4750#SDG3
@MzBeggz Love this idea! Another great resource is the @Smiling_Mind program which aims to improve mental health! Concerningly, 1 in 7 primary students
are experiencing mental health problems. https://t.co/5lo66YGQKq #UoNTeach#EDUC4750#SDG3
@Scott_Macey1 I agree! The 60 mins/day should include moderate to vigorous activity and at least 3 days/week of vigorous & muscle/bone-strengthening activities. I use this 'brain break' resource to increase PA in the classroom. https://t.co/S1jpAdHqO0
