I was sort of dreading a super busy clinic day yesterday with difficult feedback and evals scheduled, and it turned out to be wonderful because of my 2 fabulous medical students. @UMN_Psychiatry @umnmedschool
I think @AAPsychiatry has ruined all other conferences for me. I can no longer tolerate being lectured at. At #AACAP2019 even the workshops are just smaller lectures!!
I haven’t heard this term before, but this is a real thing, especially for little ones. I can’t tell you how many kids I know/work with that have emotional “meltdowns” after school from holding it together all day. Space to relax/transition with minimal expectations is key.
Plenty of research shows that adverse childhood experiences can lead to depression later in life.
But now, a new study has found that positive relationships and experiences in childhood may have lasting effects on people's mental health into adulthood.

Our brains are wired to respond to scarcity by tunnelling in on the thing that's missing.
But this process takes a huge toll. It robs us of insight. And it helps explain why, when we're in a hole, we sometimes dig ourselves even deeper.

A rising Star in medical education! A poster award runner up at AAP, and a fantastic colleague. We are so lucky to have this CAP fellow @UMN_Psychiatry
What an amazing time at #AAPinMA !! I think it’s the only time I pop out of bed sleep deprived and excited to be social for a solid 15 hours a day. Going home to @UMN_Psychiatry w/ @lorawichsermd@KazJNelson@JonathanHomans inspired and full of ideas 😊 Can’t wait for Vancouver!
