Yesterday, we lost Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals Judge E. Grady Jolly. Clerking for Judge Jolly remains a career highlight. His sharp legal reasoning and sharp wit gave this young lawyer something to aspire to, and I continue to feel his influence on my life and legal practice more than 20 years later.
Judge Jolly, and the mischievous twinkle in his eye, will be greatly missed!
250 years ago today, Adam Smith published The Wealth of Nations, a treatise that quietly, and then unmistakably, changed the way the world understood the value of market freedoms.
That Smith’s treatise still helps to power our prosperity is a testament to its abiding wisdom.
