@metpoliceuk If only theft of ordinary people’s belongings were investigated this quickly…my purse and other items were stolen from my bag last Friday. Told today that the case hasn’t even been allocated yet, 7 DAYS LATER. How many other people have the criminals robbed in that time?
@ContactHaringey Hi I had a call from social services last Friday and they left a message asking me to call back, the number just rings off with no option to leave a message. Finally got through to someone on another line who refused to put me through. Gave same number to try
As trauma survivors, we're often told to trust our gut - but it's not always that simple. Traumatic bonding can trick us into feeling deeply connected and in love with dangerous people, mistaking adrenaline-fueled familiarity for safety.
Over 30 years, I've met so many people who start off wanting to save the PD construct believing it is about what people THINK of PD (ie changeable attitudes) rather than what PD DOES in complicated ecosystems and across the course of a life. When they see the deaths, they change.
@tricerawrites@RITB_ Absolutely this. I think sometimes people don’t realise how radical “just doing your job” is when neglect from services is the norm…!
@Shrink_at_Large Not technically the same thing, but could they move to a specialist trust that covers a number of areas? I was off rolled by local mh team 🙄 but GP referred to Tavi which covers areas both in and out of London. No crisis service/medical input though, is only thing
@UKPowerNetworks hey, power flashed off about 45 minutes ago and returned immediately, but Internet connection has not returned. Map on your website claims issues are not in my area, but down the road in N4. No signal in flat so rely on internet connection for wifi calling
It’s telling some people’s response to the Tories snooping on benefit claimants’ bank accounts is “pensions aren’t benefits!” The suggestion is that - unlike hardworking trustworthy pensioners - disabled and poor people deserve to have their lives inspected.
Neoliberalism demands a relentless hustle akin to a Sisyphean task. When we falter, society labels us as failures, overlooking the unsustainable lifestyle it promotes and the stark asymmetry in our starting points.Worse yet, we're coerced into internalizing this sense of failure.
I always wonder if this sort of thinking is naivety or wilful ignorance. As if employers are lining up to hire people whose mental health condition is so severe they can’t leave the house or have social contact.
We can not depoliticise therapy because systemic violence creates trauma, leading to long-term illness, disability and early death. Poverty is political, racism is political, genocide is political, healing is political. Neutrality in therapy is complicity with systemic violence.
Your mileage may vary, but I think framing suicide as the person having "lost their battle w/ depression" is sh*tty. It frames suicide as a failure of the person who "lost" -- when it's actually a failure of community, the mental health system, the whole f*ckng culture.
Without a psych-diagnosis, access to support is denied. The neoliberal state thus demands you accept yourself as dysfunctional before it will 'help', capturing your suffering in an ideological move where the fault is located in you rather than in your environment or unmet needs.
The short or no admission policies for those labelled as having BPD carry with them the background belief that patients are fabulating.
Rather than that dissociation is such a core feature of complex trauma that presentation can change super rapidly for survival.

Something I’ve never heard spoken about but I think must be a common experience for people in #PSW#LXP lived experience roles is the unique pressure to stay ‘well’. The anxiety about feeding into stigmas and stereotypes eg I can’t go off sick even if I’m sick because I >
@bacchusrights Particularly mental health professionals when they just suggest some nonsense they probs learnt on a training:
“I think perhaps you need to do some grounding exercises”
I’m not even sure if reality is real rn my friend, I don’t think holding a pebble is gonna help that
The self-care or self-help movement flourishes on the myth that atomised isolated individuals are able to transform themselves in the absence of social, material and relational supports. And when when the project inevitably fails, it pronounces you only have yourself to blame....
