It's amazing that there are so many resources available online for students and teachers to access. Even when we're all stuck at home, there's always a way to get your kids reading! Keeping these skills developing, even at home, is essential for all students #UoNTeach
An easy way to introduce recycling to your classroom/school is to start collecting bottletops! Flavoured milk and juice bottles always have plastic caps that get left everywhere. You can even start a competition between classes to see who can collect the most! #UoNTeach
This video explains the process of recycling and exactly what happens to your waste. It's a cool resource that shows students what exactly happens when they recycle something, giving them insight into their waste management. #UoNTeach https://t.co/kG0wFS9mG4
@K3274528 I think it would be an amazing experience for students if they had volunteers from the local Aboriginal community come and share stories or engage students with their art practices! What better way to provide meaningful connections to their communities? #UoNTeach
In such a modern world, it is vital that teachers keep up to date with technology and adapt their teaching practices. Many students are proficient with ICT and integrating these resources will support students who will end up in careers where ICT is essential! #UoNTeach
This is a cool infographic to demonstrate the importance of recycling to your students. It shows how technology can be recycled rather than creating more landfill. Visuals like this are great starting points to get a class talking about recycling and waste management! #uonteach
I'd love to know how many of you had vegetable gardens when you attended school? I never had one and doing all this research makes me realise how amazing it would have been to have one so I could have learned all this as a student, rather than as an adult!
#UoNTeach
An interesting resource, teaching students how to make their own compost! This would be great to use especially if the school has its own veggie garden; the students could introduce a compost system at school that every class could contribute to! #UoNTeach
Simple actions can make a HUGE difference. Make your own compost and you will:
โป๏ธ Reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill
๐ฑ Provide habitat for garden wildlife
๐ Help preserve vital wild places by avoiding buying peat compost

This could be a great way to expose students to the current environmental crisis and start critical discussions. I think it's important for students to see the impacts themselves to connect their learning to the world around them, to make meaning from learning. #uonteach#natgeo
โThe California coast without kelp is like the Amazon without treesโ - Tom Ford, @SMBRF
Great piece in @NatGeo outlining the critical importance of #Californiaโs #KelpForests & some of the innovative solutions to help bring them back. @greenwombat

@RKrechting They have so many great ideas! I particularly love their 'Reducing Food Miles' section. It details ways that schools can cut down on waste and produce cleaner, healthier lunches for students and talks about the importance of sourcing local foods!
Sustainable Schools has a lot of cool ideas/projects you could implement at your school. It's important to teach students the importance of sustainability from an early age so they grow up eco-smart! They're responsible for our future. #uonteach https://t.co/xZ0c03mmzH
It is growing increasingly essential that we as educators ensure our students leave our classrooms as environmentally aware, eco-smart young adults who have the knowledge and attitudes to save our planet. They are the future, but we have help them get there! #uonteach
The evidence is clear - it's time to act on climate change and biodiversity loss. Today, over 60 experts come #TogetherWithNature around Four Principles for Nature-Based Solutions.

It's important to remember as we research sustainability and land care to understand how we can incorporate Indigenous knowledge and culture. Bringing in experts from local Indigenous communities can be an incredible experience for students! #uonteach https://t.co/7wMYxtZnH6
An interesting book by Ran DiOrio that explores what waste management and safe consumption means. Would be a great resource to introduce a class to a unit on sustainability, prompting them to think about what they do in their own lives about 'staying green'! #uonteach
@KellySp52246369 It's wonderful to think how easily educators from across the world can collaborate and share their resources! I now realise that Twitter is another valuable resource itself and that I've been missing out. Such a great platform for diverse perspectives and resources! #uonteach
@CootesEliza This is amazing! You could put some students in charge of maintaining these bins and ensuring waste goes to the correct bin, giving them some agency and responsibility regarding their own waste? A great way to keep a school clean and reduce landfill as well. #uonteach
It is essential that we as educators continue to learn and grow alongside our students. In this technology driven world, platforms like Twitter provide countless resources that allow teachers to communicate and collaborate from anywhere in the world, even from home! #uonteach
@emily3237690 This would be an excellent tool to use in class for students to plan out and design their vegetable gardens! Particularly during this time of isolation, ICT resources like this are an excellent way to engage your students. Thanks for sharing this! #uonteach
In the school I work at, a Year Six student came up with her own natural soap as a way of reducing wide-spread consumption and plastic packaging. An amazing idea that brought up a large class discussion about over-consumption and how it impacts on our environment! #UoNTeach
What an interesting idea! This gives us an opportunity to teach our children the values of sustainable consumption and production and prompts the creation of school veggie gardens, giving students real world experience with their learning and tying in community links! #UoNTeach
We've launched a new crowdfunding initiative that enables you to grow organic food in your backyard, then buy, sell or exchange it with others in your community. Welcome to a decentralised food network! ๐๐๐ฟ Support our campaign here: https://t.co/XiqhDTHvj1
