@CardinalDolan@thegnewsroom As the Swiss theologian Karl Barth used to say in the 1930s, believers should read the Bible and the newspaper every day - "and never the one without the other".
@poperespecter1 Has anyone else noted the modest dimensions of the Papal mitre compared with those of soi-disant bishops belonging to the factionalist Society of St Pius the Tenth?
@PaulinusOfTrier No doubt the mumbo-jumbo developed considerably 1580ff. Queen Elizabeth initially regarded the Lodges as a threat but was soon persuaded that they were 'loyal' to her Settlement and the new status quo.
The whole ethical theory of Freemasonry is essentially Pelagian.
@nicholascarrigg St Augustine likened the Trinity to the 3-fold character of the human mind with its capacity for rational thought, for memory and for decision making.
@IhabHassane It is important for someone of Mr Herzog's standing to say this. I hope those in the UK who advocate withdrawal from the European Convention on Human Rights will take note this words.
@BarraIsland@CantleySteve The kind of person who destroys such fencing probably argues that the space has always been free to access and resents any limitation on a right to roam - or, in a case in E Anglia last year, ride his quad bike.
Important to indicate that the protective fencing is temporary.
@FurkanGozukara You're very slow on the uptake - it must be more than twenty years that it was said (without generating outrage) that the British Army could be fitted into Wembley Stadium.
@x__abc_1@ClarkeMicah Interesting - thanks for taking the trouble. It doesn't quite remove a slight suspicion that a name was coined to sound in Hindi similar to the Portuguese for 'beautiful bay' - probably 16th C too.
@CatholicPebble Even tho' the language sounds a bit 'shouty' when read, I rather doubt our Lord "yelled" even when denouncing the hypocrites who were likened to white-washed tombs (Mt.23:27). He who 'carries a big stick' can afford to 'speak quietly'.
@mortime01701006@deadwronghist Thank you - I supose we would say 'World-weariness'. I do not imagine anyone who writes a book with a title such as that of Spengler's 'magnum opus' is likely to be 'a happy bunny'(!)
I wonder how many 'stars' Kissinger gave the 'Christian civilization' he was describing.
@Richard37326497@barbaraosimani@sscjusa A booklet, in size comparable to those of CTS, published in Ireland in late 1980s. My inference is that following the beatification, a Jesuit father was asked to produce a short biography. Presumably this task was given to someone who was already knowledgeable on the subject.
