Men, heed the words that come right before Paul’s command to “Fight.” Then you’ll understand true manliness.
But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. 1 Tim 6:11-12
The greatest reason I’m confident in the future of Southern, and of our department in particular, is God’s provision of men like Colin. Humble excellence. Grateful for him.
For Dr. Colin R. McCulloch, theology is meant to shape the way people live. He teaches students that biblical counseling is practical theology, bringing the truth of Scripture to bear on real human struggles, questions, and growth.
In the classroom, Dr. McCulloch helps students move from careful exegesis to faithful application, equipping them to minister personally and thoughtfully to others. His goal is to prepare ministers who can apply God’s Word in ways that strengthen the church and form disciples.
Get to know Dr. McCulloch, whose classroom prepares students to bring biblical, theological truth into the care of souls.
A rich week of discussing theological method and biblical application in our PhD seminar at @SBTS. Incredible students. The future is bright. Happy and tired.
@ProfCubas Pam, you did not grow weary in doing good, and now you can enjoy your achievement. May the Lord keep you close to him, to his Word, and to his people. So happy for you!
Young men aspiring to pastoral ministry, grace is powerful enough to keep you from lapsing into sin your entire ministry. Don’t doubt it.
It’s okay to be discouraged when you see good men lapse. But that doesn’t mean you will.
Look to Jesus, the Author & Finisher of your faith.
I’m so grateful for @jeremypierre at @ABCounselors calling this generation of biblical counselors to His Word. Without the Word of God we have nothing to say.
In 1962, C.S. Lewis was asked to name the books that most influenced his life philosophy.
The list he came up had many classics, but also some lesser known gems. Here’s his list:
Reflecting today on the final semester I get to “dean” alongside Hershael York, as he retires from that particular role. He’s a pastor’s pastor, and that has shaped the way we teach ministry at @SBTS. May that legacy only increase.
I’m always grateful to sit under John Henderson’s teaching. Few men I know are as laser-focused on Scripture.
This faithfulness is modeled in his character and articulated in his teaching. Grateful he’s my friend and colleague.
My respect for Hershael York has only increased in the years working more closely with him at @SBTS.
He’s been a great dean. But far more importantly, he is a man without guile. He loves his Lord and his people. I want to emulate him.
If you’ve been hurt by church shepherds and just want to hear the voice of the Good Shepherd again, this book directs your heart there. Don’t give up on the church. Jesus didn’t.
In God’s kind providence, we finished another reading of @jeremypierre’s storybook Bible with our kids last night on Good Friday. The last chapter is pure gospel gold. For all He has done to bring us home to Himself, praise the Lord!

As he that for some robbery

Alas! What have I stolen from you?
Death.
