The article references Vanessa Redgrave's "infamous 'Zionist hoodlums' speech.” Just to be clear, in her Oscar acceptance speech, Vanessa Redgrave was referring to the hoodlums from the Jewish Defence League, a known terrorist organization. In the run-up to the Oscars ceremony, JDL people had burnt her effigy, put a bounty on her head and threatened her studio to drop their support for her Oscar campaign. Redgrave had to enter the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion under armed guard, with snipers on the roof. And what was her crime? Funding and narrating a documentary about the Palestinian struggle. The more things change, the more they stay the same, except now one can't even say the most tepid things without being threatened with blacklisting.
