It's #VolunteersWeek!
At @WakeCathedral, our volunteers help welcome visitors, support services, run events & much more.
We simply couldn't do what we do without them!💙
Throughout the week, we'll be introducing some of our volunteer teams & sharing how you can get involved.

Good luck today to some truly amazing friends standing in the local elections - & those working so hard behind the scenes too.
Local politics is tough and often thankless, but people still put themselves forward because they care for their communities.
Proud of you all today.
Throwback to 2015 and one of those brilliantly chaotic campaign days! 😂
So lucky to have worked with legends like @edballs, @jocoles1, Rory, Julie and many more.
Thinking especially of @jaynehillmorley who is hugely missed. ❤️

A huge thank you to all our clergy, staff & volunteers for all they did to make Holy Week & Easter so special here at the cathedral.
From the Chrism Eucharist to the Easter Vigil, your dedication keeps the cathedral at the heart of our city.
We’re so grateful for all you do.
Today we were honoured to host the Chrism Service for the @LeedsCofE.
A special service where holy oils are blessed and clergy renew their vows.
Huge thanks to our clergy, staff & volunteers, and to all who joined us. You are always welcome here.
At 7pm we began the Eucharist of the Last Supper, entering the sacred Triduum.
We remember Christ’s gift of Himself in the Eucharist and His call to serve through the washing of feet.
The altar is stripped. The night deepens.
The Watch now begins…
Night has fallen and the cathedral now closes in silence.
We entered the Triduum with the Eucharist of the Last Supper, remembered in the breaking of bread and the washing of feet. The altar is stripped, the space still.
We leave carrying this sacred night with us.
A huge thank you to Danny and Gillian Wilks for all their hard work in installing our Easter Garden yesterday.
It was wonderful to see it blessed by our Precentor at this morning’s Festal Eucharist.
Christ is risen. Alleluia!
As our Solemn Evensong in the cathedral comes to a close, we’re pleased to share a message from our Dean, @pphobday.
He reflects on the generations who have celebrated Easter here before us, and the hope at the heart of the resurrection.
Happy Easter to you all.
Happy 6th Birthday to my Albert 🐾💙
You’re the light of my life, my comfort, my best friend. You saved me in ways I’ll never be able to explain.
Your wagging tail, those brown eyes, your paws and cuddles… I love you more than words could ever say. 🐶💙
Yesterday me & @WainwrightFilms went to the #EuroFigure Skating Championships and my heart is still full!
Cheering on the Brits 🇬🇧, finally seeing “The Whale” by Fournier-Beaudry & Cizeron live (tears 😭)… and bronze for Lilah & Lewis 🥉. Milan, here they come! ⛸️✨
As we prepare for tomorrow’s Sung Eucharist for Epiphany (10am), our verger clears the West Door ready to be marked anew with 20 + C + M + B + 26 - a prayer for Christ’s blessing on all who enter this year. ✨✝️

Welcoming the New Year with you in my heart.
It doesn’t feel right welcoming a new year without you.
Happy Heavenly New Year 🕊️
Miss and love you always, my beautiful friend.
As 2026 approaches, our Dean-Designate, Canon Philip (@pphobday), shares a New Year message of hope.
We wish you happiness - and even more, a blessed New Year, knowing God’s presence and peace whatever the year brings. ✨🙏
