Cranston Police have charged 62-year-old Anna Maria Angelosanto with Domestic Violence – First Degree Murder in connection with the death of her 21-year-old daughter, Alexandra Straccia.

Police initially responded to the Kingwood Avenue residence on July 27 for a reported water emergency.

Officers found Alexandra deceased inside the home and her mother suffering from apparent self-inflicted injuries.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives say they developed probable cause to believe Angelosanto intentionally caused her daughter’s death before attempting to take her own life.

Police said Alexandra had severe autism and was entirely dependent on her mother for around-the-clock care.

After being released from Rhode Island Hospital this afternoon, Angelosanto was taken into custody, arraigned and ordered held without bail. She was transported to the ACI Women’s Intake Facility.

The investigation remains active, and the case is now before the court. As with all criminal cases, Angelosanto is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.

Part1. Pawtucket Rhode Island. Arrived on scene as it all began to unfold within minutes of the initial 911 call for a potential active shooter situation. Law enforcement at the time did not know if there were multiple suspects or a suspect who fled the scene. It was considered an active shooter with the request from any available department in the state to respond. (please give credit if you take footage).
