🚨 HISTORIC VERDICT IN SRI LANKA

A Sri Lankan High Court has delivered a landmark ruling following a five-year trial into the devastating 2019 Easter Sunday bombings.

15 convicts have been sentenced to an average of 220 years in prison each for plotting, aiding, and abetting the coordinated attacks.

The three-judge bench found them guilty under the Prevention of Terrorism Act of murder, conspiracy, and weapons possession.

The attacks were executed by a homegrown extremist cell known as National Thowheeth Jama’ath (NTJ).

The local cell was heavily inspired by Islamic State (ISIS) ideology.

Investigators revealed that the attacks specifically aimed to fracture Sri Lanka’s fragile multicultural society by directly targeting the Christian minority and foreign tourists to gain global jihadi attention.

Among those convicted is Mohamed Naufar (Naufer Moulavi), identified by prosecutors as the ideological ringleader who backed the suicide squad.

While 9 other defendants were acquitted due to a lack of evidence, defense lawyers for the convicted men have already announced plans to appeal the historic sentences.

The 2019 suicide bombings targeted three luxury hotels and three churches, tragically killing over 260 people and injuring hundreds more.
