Fun fact: #KarenRead’s trial is being held at the Norfolk County Courthouse in Dedham, Massachusetts—the same courthouse where Sacco and Vanzetti were tried nearly a century ago.

Below is an excerpt about the trial Judge, Webster Thayer, who presided over the case and one of the defense attorneys, Fred H. Moore, who was from California.

You’re not in the twilight zone for noticing some eery similarities! Notably, similar to Judge Beverly Cannone presiding over the Karen Read case, Judge Thayer routinely denied defense motions.

Judge Thayer also lectured the California-based lawyer on how law was conducted in Massachusetts.

Although Judge Beverly Cannone doesn’t lecture Karen’s pro hac vice defense attorneys on the law in Massachusetts, she certainly seems to have a bias against them for whatever reason—selectively admonishing: “In Massachusetts, we stand!”—when meanwhile, ADA Adam Lally routinely doesn’t stand when addressing the court.

Additionally, similar to Judge Thayer who requested to be put on the Sacco and Vanzetti trial, Judge Beverly Cannone deviated from procedure in Norfolk County Superior Court by choosing to keep this case with her…in spite of the fact that she was reassigned to civil court and this case is properly heard by the judicial officer currently assigned to the criminal session.”

Another fun fact: Judge Beverly Cannone may have set the record for the longest time a Judge doesn’t rule on an evidentiary motion in a murder case, with her failing to rule on a defense evidentiary motion for over 72 days!

Another fun fact: Remember when Judge Beverly Cannone gave her dramatic diatribe at the start of the motions in limine hearing where she claimed she’d read through 4,000+ pages of evidence and didn’t know who the third party culprits were?

Well I’d posit there’s no way that was a truthful statement given the fact that in this one document alone (see attached, third image w/ pink highlighter) it directly names two of the third party culprits stating: “evidence implicating third parties Jennifer McCabe and Brian Albert in O'Keefe's death.”

Anyone who has read any of the defense filings in this case and/or watched the motion hearings is well aware of who the third party culprits are in this case. The fact that the presiding Judge is not is astonishing and deeply concerning.
