My wish is for everyone to see and humanize these women. They were working so hard to survive and provide for their families and loved ones. They were someone’s mother or aunt or daughter or niece....and loved.
It breaks me that we have to ask for others to see us as human.

If you are struggling with eating disorder behaviors even though “you know better,” I want to remind you that your eating disorder is a mental illness that you didn’t choose to have.
It is not your fault. Please be kind to yourself. 💗
Note to self:
Some days are hard emotionally, physically, and mentally. It’s okay if you don’t accomplish everything you set out to do. Give yourself some compassion and focus on what you can do to get by and feel your best in the moment.
You have a mortal human body rife with vulnerabilities suspended in a matrix of systemic exploitation, structural inequality, and chronic stressors.
But if you develop an illness or chronic condition, it's down to your own poor choices and lack of morality, sure okay seems legit
When you are specifically talking about Black people and the anti-Blackness, racism & violence we face, please refrain from using more “palatable” terms like:
POC
BIPOC
Black & Brown
This is an act of erasure and anti-Blackness.
It’s ok to just say Black. With a capital B.
My public health education taught me that Black people were a “high risk” for many chronic illnesses. My public health education did not teach me why. Teaching me why would have revealed the systems of oppression that make Black people a higher risk for premature death.
To my white educators: Today, you’re posting about social justice, buying antiracist books, following brown folks, and temp changing your profile pictures. (thread)
Here’s what I need you to do tomorrow:
hey @eatright - you’ve said that diversity and inclusion are important to the Academy and Nutrition and Dietetics. How are you supporting and amplifying the voices of your Black members rn? #RDchat
