@grace_marra3@MuseumModernArt This is also great to show a different telling of an art peice than you may find on a label in the museum or on an online catalog. Getting someone to speak on their experience with an art peice is moving and can connect other people in a way they couldn’t have before #MSTDSM
@Lindsayanne94@Tate I agree that the Art for Kids series is so nice to see on a YouTube channel and that it can be good for increased engagement. I know parents who create YouTube playlists for their kids to watch and the ability to include all types of educational content is a plus! #MSTDSM
I loved how the #CorningMuseumofGlass uses YouTube shorts to post videos of glass blowing. It is entrancing to watch! #MSTDSM

I enjoyed exploring @V_and_A Fashion Unpicked videos where they share the history of fashion pieces within their collection like this video #MSTDSM

I really like how @NMAAHC creates playlists like these that allow you to be a part of an event as if you are there with them. #MSTDSM

I really enjoyed this video series from @SFMOMA. I love the use of animation to show the history behind art and artists and I remember watching some of these in class as a student. #MSTDSM

These considerations are important because if resources aren’t properly used and understood museums can hurt themselves rather than help themselves online by presenting the wrong image to the public. #MSTDSM
I think museums can compete on social media platforms with anyone else. With the right understanding of their resources and audience as well as a team of people with an understanding of social media museums can be very successful in this realm. #MSTDSM
The only exception would be if the institution was offering something that was worth the monthly price which can be gauged differently based on my interests and the institution. #MSTDSM
It is hard to gauge digital memberships and how they will work out over time. This really depends on how dedicate a person is to an institution and how many resources the institution has available to keep it worth the money people are paying. #MSTDSM
As for me I don’t think I would be signing up for a digital membership. While I could see myself doing something like this during COVID when everything was closed I don’t think I would do this now. #MSTDSM
@HaleyMusie I totally agree with you and I love this expansion on her story. I love how digital storytelling allows an expansion of knowledge by using things that are widely known to expand a persons story. #MSTDSM
I have loved seeing @TranscribeSI content like this being able to see and read the stories that they have worked to transcribe. I think their digitization work is awesome and I love how they share it on social media! #MSTDSM
#OTD 1945, the US War Department announced that aviator Jacqueline "Jackie" Cochran was being awarded the “Distinguished Service Medal” for her service during WWII as founder/leader of the Women's Air Service Pilots (WASP) program. #SmithsonianWHM

I love seeing posts from @SIAmericanWomen especially during #WomensHistoryMonth. I love learning and seeing the stories of how women worked to build America as we know it today! #MSTDSM
I love when museums use collection highlights like this to promote the stories that have shaped the ways we live and work today. This post not only tells the story of disability rights activism but promotes continued learning about the movement. #MSTDSM
We remember disability rights activist Judy Heumann.
She helped lead protesters in a 1977 sit-in at a federal building in San Francisco. Their demand: that the government implement Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, protecting the rights of people with disabilities.
I think storytelling in this form with contributions from other users and enthusiasts is interesting in how they are engaging to tell the story together. #MSTDSM
I loved reading these short story posts about the Happiness Club to inspire happiness in Brooklyn and now in DC and anywhere else people are viewing this content from! So glad @emilyniekrasz shared this heartwarming content. #MSTDSM
The Happiness Club was formed in 1945 by Brooklyn’s Colony House when they realized elderly residents were so lonely they would wait at the Long Island Depot to “pretend to themselves that they were waiting the arrival of someone on a train.”
@grace_marra3 I also have loved their #fontfriday posts and seeing the engagement they seem to always get with new stories from users in every post.#MSTDSM
@SophiaCKaminski I agree! I also think this is a great way to break down the idea that museums are boring quiet places for learning when that can usually be far from the truth. #MSTDSM
