@mcrs987 I would guess that they just can't go that slow when in gear. So instead of going in and out of gear constantly (or changing propellor pitch) they just zig zag to place less mechanical wear on the propulsion system.

@Space_Time3 Here’s a question for you, Felix. Was the 2nd engine that failed to fire the “twin” of the one SpaceX switched off? Was this automatic to balance the thrust?
