House Speaker Daniel Perez was asked about the impact of property tax reductions on Florida's small counties. He posed the question: Should some of those counties even exist?

"I would have to assume some of these very, very small counties rely on their property taxes. And look, I'm gonna play devil's advocate here. Should some of these counties not exist? Today while giving remarks at a transportation event in Santa Rosa County, Senator Don Gaetz began to feel unwell. He returned to his remarks, but his condition did not immediately improve. He is currently in stable condition and is receiving excellent medical care. Our family thanks the first responders, nurses and doctors who have assisted him today for their outstanding work. We appreciate the expressions of prayer and support shared with all of us. He will be fully recovered soon.
