This is seriously very funny, but the Cambridge affair is a serious embarrassment for higher education. A professor celebrated as a symbol of diversity has resigned while Cambridge investigates allegations involving plagiarism, questionable research and disputed biographical claims. The allegations still require a fair investigation, but Cambridge’s first instinct appeared to be protecting the narrative and attacking the critics.

I’ve been taking courses since 1978. Education should train people to examine evidence, challenge assumptions and admit mistakes. Too many universities now reward the correct identity and ideology, then treat scrutiny as some form of moral offence. DEI and woke ideology need to be dismantled before they finish destroying the credibility of institutions that took centuries to build.

The same lesson applies to Mark Carney. Yes, he is an economist by education and a former central banker. That proves he has credentials. It doesn’t prove his political judgement is sound. Economics is supposed to deal with incentives, scarcity, productivity, debt and trade-offs. When a government spends heavily, expands bureaucracy and makes investment harder while ordinary Canadians become poorer, asking “How can he be an economist?” is entirely fair.

A degree tells you what somebody studied. Results tell you what they learned.

Real skepticism is not automatically doubting everything. It is refusing to pretend you know more than you do.

Cicero understood that reason, experience, experts, institutions and even our own memories can fail. That does not mean we sit helplessly on the fence. We judge the evidence, assign a reasonable level of confidence, act accordingly, and update our position when better information arrives.

Some beliefs are little more than first impressions. Others have survived examination, conflicting evidence and repeated testing. Treating them all with equal confidence is foolish.

This is also where modern political debate falls apart. People often decide what they want to believe first, then search for arguments to defend it. Party loyalty replaces inquiry. Certainty becomes a performance. Changing your mind gets treated as weakness.

A serious person should be able to say:

“This is what I currently believe.”

“This is how confident I am.”

“This is the evidence supporting it.”

“And this is what would cause me to change my mind.”

That is not indecision. It is intellectual honesty.

Finding a family doctor in Canada has turned into a part time job. Call the clinic, get told they're full, try the next one, hear the same thing.
According to the Canadian Medical Association, about 5.9 million adults in Canada don't have a regular family doctor. That is millions of people with nowhere to turn for the everyday care that catches problems early.
A family doctor is the front door to the whole system. When that door is closed, small issues become big ones and everything downstream gets harder.
This is fixable. Other countries with universal health care make sure people can actually get a doctor. We can build a system that has room for everyone.

What truly makes me happy?

Building something that lasts. Solving difficult problems. Having meaningful conversations. Spending time with family. Learning something new. Seeing an idea move beyond talk and become real.

I have never been satisfied with simply passing the time. I feel happiest when I am creating, improving, helping or figuring something out.

For me, happiness is not constant comfort. It is purpose, connection and the quiet satisfaction of knowing I used the day well.

This is also why I cannot support the Liberals or the NDP.

I believe their approach emphasizes bigger government, more bureaucracy and more redistribution over creating the conditions for people to build, innovate, invest and solve problems.

I believe a stronger Canada comes from rewarding work, responsibility, entrepreneurship and personal initiative, not making government the answer to every challenge.

That's the Canada I want to help build.

Trump is unique among malignant narcissists in being of below average intelligence, inarticulate, and poorly read. We almost never see this.
Even many non-political malignant narcissists (Ted Bundy) had high IQ's. And "cult of personality" malignant narcissists (Jim Jones, David Koresh), are especially literate and sharp. The pervasiveness and persuasiveness of cult leaders is usually enhanced by their intelligence and articulacy, repartee and even wit.
Yet Trump is such a loud, boorish, and obvious con, that his political rise speaks as much to our celebrity culture, our consuming of media in echo chambers, his craven enablers, and our aggrieved society. This convergence has created a phenomenon that's made too much of our electorate ... I'll just be nice and call them "susceptible."
BUT - and this is the point of this tweet - BECAUSE he's so flawed, so owned by his disorders, and so enfeebled, he can't navigate the very chaos he inflicts. He's become too old, too desperate, too fearful and too unable to process his own mortification. He has no strategic thought or inclination to play from behind.
All he has now are his cravings, fantastical desire to reclaim grandiosity, panicked fear of humiliation, and toxicity. He has no smarts, no patience, no craftiness. And not enough incoming narcissistic nutrition, no matter how often they give him the North Korea treatment. You can see that this is all he has more clearly now, because he keeps making mistakes and screwing up everything, everywhere, all at once.
His decline is unmistakable. His demise will be spectacular.

Received a call from a French-CBC reporter this week.

Reporter: “I’ve been told that we’re no longer allowed to speak with you, and La Presse is encouraging us to distance ourselves from you because of what you wrote about media subsidies. Is that true?”

Me: “Quite possibly. La Presse and Radio-Canada are like peas and carrots: when one cancels you, the other tends to follow. It’s unfortunate—especially since I wholeheartedly support public broadcasting.”

When you listen to the news—any news—pay close attention to the experts they invite and what they say; more and more are being canceled by the public broadcaster just because we actually say what we think.

Elite travel. Corporate subsidies. Bonuses after failure. Endless lectures about responsibility from people who never seem to face any consequences themselves.

The language has changed. The packaging is slicker. The same insiders still get protected, the same taxpayers still get stuck with the bill, and ordinary Canadians are still told to sacrifice more.

A. The government forcibly rations healthcare and LIMITS the number of doctors being trained.
B. We are the ONLY Western country to do this. France, Australia the UK; all of them have a private system coexisting with a public system.

Friends of ours are looking to leave Canada.

The husband is a specialist and works in our healthcare system. There are only a few of them in Alberta.

He is so frustrated with the system and all the pointless middle managers and processes getting in the way of running a practice and just taking care of patients. He is done with it.

He says its run like a daycare, completely behind on research and technology and has no idea why so many pointless people are employed creating unnecessary steps in the way.

They are getting some amazing offers from the US.
