House Speaker Johnson argues that $200K isn’t enough for members of Congress to support their families, so they should either get a raise or be allowed to trade individual stocks. Otherwise, he says, America won’t attract qualified people to serve.

Whether Republican or Democrat, I think we can agree they’re in office to SERVE, it is called being a public SERVANT, and we don’t need them doing it for decades. One or two terms, max. After that, they get so captured by special interests they’ll do whatever it takes to stay in office. No thanks.

As for stock trading, the evidence is overwhelming that people picking individual stocks underperform the market. The only way a member of Congress beats it is with inside information, which both parties have shown, repeatedly, they’re willing to use and make unearned, unethical profits on the backs of the American taxpayer.

There should be no raises and no stock trading allowed for anyone in Congress.

With #7, America’s shortstop, Royals shortstop, and my friend — Bobby Witt Jr. 💙

Earlier this spring at Royals Spring Training, I had the incredible honor of being part of a clubhouse presentation announcing that Bobby Witt Jr. is the 2025 Lou Gehrig Memorial Award recipient. On May 27th, Bobby will officially receive the award prior to the Royals vs. Yankees game at Kauffman Stadium.

Bobby becomes just the third player in Royals history to receive this prestigious honor, joining two other dear friends of mine: George Brett and Salvador Perez.

Established in 1955, the Lou Gehrig Memorial Award is presented annually by the Phi Delta Theta fraternity to the Major League Baseball player who best exemplifies the character, integrity, generosity, and community spirit of Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig.

There truly could not be a more deserving recipient.

Bobby has supported me in my fight against ALS since the day we met four years ago. His kindness, encouragement, and willingness to use his platform for good helped inspire me to create Sarah’s Soldiers — a nonprofit dedicated to bringing hope and support to Midwest families facing the overwhelming financial and emotional burdens that come with ALS.

But Bobby’s impact extends far beyond supporting my journey.

Since arriving in Kansas City, he has consistently invested in our community and the next generation of baseball fans. Last year, he became the first MLB player named a Play Ball Ambassador, helping grow the game by sharing his passion and knowledge with kids across the country. And if you’ve ever been around him at the ballpark, you already know how generous he is with his time — especially when it comes to the kids waiting for an autograph or a moment they’ll never forget.

Awards like this aren’t just about what happens on the field. They recognize the kind of person someone is when the cameras are off. Bobby represents this award, this organization, and this city exceptionally well.
