@JSchleiderPhD Don't get me wrong, I love that more guides like this are being created across the field! Please don't stop! I just want to offer another perspective on how they come across.
@JSchleiderPhD This is a welcoming and clarifying resource, but-- as an applicant-- a bit hard to trust! My logical brain just doesn't believe that lovely "none is required of applicants" addendum tucked away above the list of several specific (and very important) examples of experience.
@drrodebaugh @ABCole25 Interesting. Thank you. I think I'm hearing that specificity and refined narrowness of interests, at the beginning of that journey, is maybe more important than openness to that change or switch which can come down the line.
@drrodebaugh @ABCole25 As a recent graduate looking to chart his course, this second bit of advice is especially helpful. And, refreshingly, it flies in the face the overtold-to-undergrads trope of the successful researcher whose work "now looks nothing like how [they] thought it would at the start"
