@PatternProfits @MarketSmith I like how $APPS is not yet fully publicly known. All owners must be institutions or strong retail investors. No weak hands!
Interesting to go over leader charts today. Mixed bag. TSLA finished at low of weekly range four straight weeks. Lots of HS top potential. Others support at moving averages and maybe some double bottoms. I'll keep this list and recheck these notes in the days/weeks to come.
@AmitayYaniv@BiotechNewbie@saxena_puru Nah, it doesn't say the price remain as that of 4 Aug. What it says is that the merger 'represents' $18B 'based on' the price of 4 Aug. 'based on' is the key phrase. They could have calculated the billion value based on any date, e.g. 1 Jan 2020.
@LMT978 If not buying on good news (timeless advice) and not buying after price has been smashed (great advice), then when to buy? Only after a great setup has formed and the move confirmed by the market?
@7AustinL @Badpak Do not hold hopes when you should fear. Price is the best indicator and is saying something else. What is earning report actually telling? I can see two candidate explanations behind this massive sell off: either it was a classic sell the news or a panic selling
@saxena_puru So, $fsly is now a growth stock again. Glad to know that. I don't think you are a compounder. A great trader, may be, compounder? Not what you do. This approach does not have generality, i.e. won't work in long term. Most growth stocks may scape you because they don't correct 35%
Other obvious lessons are to open only a max of 10 positions and preferably less. Trade with bigger size; be able to fully control the trade. Out of 47(!) positions that I held open at one point only a few obvious ones were up good. The others were flat and eventually went down.
So, my week summary is a stupendously good 3 days beings 40% up since Monday followed by a humbling 46% down on the last two days. Overall down 6%. Quite happy with the results and lessons. My 4 biggest mistakes followed by the 2 areas of strength 1/
Way ahead is to WAIT for additional setups; never carry into earnings ever again (except rarely with positions that can incur a damage of overall 1% the portfolio with 20% drop). This should be done only once in every two weeks or so.
