A bloody engagement of the American Revolutionary War fought near the border of North and South Carolina, the Battle of the Waxhaws, was fought on the is date (May 29, 1780). It pitted Continental forces under Colonel Abraham Buford against British troops led by Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton and ended in a Patriot defeat known for allegations of captured soldiers being massacred after their surrender. #Celebration250
