@thameswater Customer services at @thameswater - after being unable to answer why my recent bill has raised my monthly payment by 110%, I say “This is what privatisation looks like”.
They reply - “I apologise for the inconvenience you've experienced.”
Dissonance.
#thameswaterextortion
@thameswater have just put up my monthly payments by 110%. Since 2022, my payments have gone up by 2.85 - almost 3 fold - despite being told a meter would likely bring my bills down. No one at Thames water can explain why. This is racketeering. My complaint is ongoing #extortion
……and the person at @thameswater I’ve been messaging with has been unable to answer the simple question as to why, when inflation has been 4.9% a year between 2022 and 25, my bills have gone up 95% per year. #thameswaterextortion
I was interviewed by @thesocialworkrace for this film on institutional racism, anti-racism, reparative justice & @heirsofslavery It was an honour to be able to drill so deeply into the subject.

John Dower, the Co-founder of Heirs to Slavery, is supporting the 'No Room for Slavery' campaign to pressure the British Museum to create a permanent exhibition about slavery. Since learning that his ancestors had historically profited from owning slaves, @JohnDower now advocates for a movement of apology, reconciliation and reparative justice.

Speaking at @UNESCO's Dialogues on Reparatory Justice panel, The Repair Campaign Founder, Denis O'Brien called for European governments to critically engage with the calls for reparations for the atrocities of chattel slavery.
Special thanks to @JohnDower for moderating.
I’m at the @UNESCO_es Global forum against racism & discrimination. Looking forward to today’s breakout session on reparatory justice. #reparatoryjustice #
So grateful that @SangitaMyska helped us tell our reparative justice story of the Trevelyan family & @heirsofslavery in early 2023.
What a loss to good radio journalism. LBC should be ashamed.

In April, I was ‘disappeared’ from air at LBC. It was a disorienting, distressing & isolating experience. Unknown to me, 1 listener, a respected scientist, began an unprecedented petition to express his concern. 40,000 of you signed it. I’d never met that listener, until…
It's time the British Museum addresses slavery.
We want to see a room at the British Museum for slavery, so it can tell a better story of how we got here and who we are.

A great initiative from @TWR__org & @GoodLawProject to bring the @britishmuseum up to date on what the majority re calling for - recognition of its colonial past in relation to Transatlantic Chattel enslavement of people of African descent @heirsofslavery

Thank you to the people of Carriacou who talked to @MixelMedia and I for tonight’s @NewsHour report on how this small eastern Caribbean island is recovering after Hurricane Beryl struck with such devastating force on July 1.
