I was in the White House during Hurricane Katrina when Bush was excoriated for flying over New Orleans, rather than landing, because he did not want to divert resources from rescue efforts.

Can you imagine if he spent that week on the beach, and when asked to discuss his plans to travel to see the damage said “No”?  They would have crucified him. 

But Joe Biden can’t be bothered to interrupt his beach vacation to so much as say a word of consolation to the people of Maui, and that’s perfectly fine.  He can wait a week before traveling to Hawaii to see the damage and recovery efforts, and that perfectly copacetic.

If you ever wanted evidence that the media is in the tank for him, there it is.
